I’m starting a new reading challenge! Let me tell you all about why I’m doing the 15 Books of Christmas 2022 Reading Challenge.
The Why:
I’ll admit it – I’m a bit of a Christmas fanatic. I love reading Christmas-themed books and watching Hallmark Christmas movies. The past few years I’ve read about a dozen of these reads each year which I thought might be a little higher than some. I surveyed avid readers on Twitter and Instagram as to how the number of Christmas-themed books they read each year. The vast majority said they read from 0-4 of these books. Christmas fanatic status confirmed!
Each year the book publishers start publishing Christmas books during the summer. Yes that’s right. In fact, almost all of these books are published in September and October which likely surprises many of you.
As a reviewer for Netgalley and Edelweiss+ this means I’m starting my Christmas 2022 reading early. I looked around for challenges which would include this early reading. I didn’t find anything that started before October 1 so I decided to create my own challenge.
15 Books of Christmas 2022 Reading Challenge:
Let me introduce you to the 15 Books of Christmas 2022 challenge! My goal is to read 15 Christmas-themed books before the end of 2022. Why am I doing this? To challenge myself, but also to let those of you who like to read a Christmas-themed book or two some options to read during the holiday season. Many of these books will be new for 2022 with a few from my backlist. My reading list may change based on availability of the books, but this is what I hope to read. Click on the cover for the link to Goodreads.
My Selections:
For those of you who don’t like to read holiday-themed books, don’t worry. I’ll still be reading other books that are not part of this challenge.
Are there any of you who also will be participating in a Christmas challenge this year? Is anyone else hosting a Christmas 2022 challenge starting in September? Let me know in the comments.
UPDATE: Challenge successfully completed!

OMG, Christmas already? It’s coming up so fast. I love the choices you made and I hope to hear a little something about them. I just finished reading a summer at firefly beach by Jenny Hale and it was so cute I can only imagine what her holiday books are like. Good luck on your challenge.

Summer at Firefly Beach was a lovely book. Thanks for the best wishes on the challenge and for reading!

What a fun challenge! I love Christmastime and I’d also love to participate and see how many Christmas-themed books I can read by the end of this year. I love the sound of Snowed in for Christmas, A Christmas House Wedding, Christmas in Peachtree Buff, and White Christmas on Winter St. Thank you for sharing your picks!

That’s wonderful! I look forward to seeing your Christmas book picks too!

Some of those look super cute – I’m not a huge Christmas fan but some of those make me want to read them… so who knows! I hope you enjoy

Can we join you? I think I could do at least 10 Christmas Themed books before xmas. I’ve been “over-requesting” on NetGalley lately, but I think I could do this. I can do a blog post and link back here.
thathappyreader
That would be wonderful Wendy! I absolutely know about over requesting as I have too! I need to sit on my hands!🤣

Now this has me excited! Likewise, I’m a Christmas fanatic and nothing brings me more joy than putting a Christmas film on and snuggling under a blanket. I haven’t read a lot of Christmas books so this has me inspired to do so. Especially as some of these covers have caught my eye! Thank you so much for sharing this with us lovely. I’ll for sure be checking a few of these out Xo

I love reading a holiday themed book. I am going to read Snowed in for Christmas by Sarah Morgan which I am excited about!
I will see how many I get read. 15 might be a bit much for me, but…

Is the challenge for anyone and will you be having a start date, linkup., etc.? I LOVE Christmas movies on Hallmark. I rarely read Christmas books but for some reason I really want to read some this year.
thathappyreader
Thanks for reading Vicki! I’ve already started this challenge as it was intended to be unique to me, but if you’d like to join me that would be great! There is no set number of books – just set an amount that will provide you a bit of a challenge. Thanks for reading!
Sara
Oh I like this challenge! A Cat Cafe Christmas is on my must-read list. Happy reading!

Thank you Sara!

I participate in the 20 Books for Christmas Challenge hosted by Tea and Cake for the Soul. I have done it for the last two years she has hosted. It starts in October, but I will start reading some this month because of ARCS and blog tours. Good luck with your challenge Jodie.

Sounds like a fun challenge for you! I enjoy Christmas books, but I’m not sure I could manage 15 of them between now and Christmas, with all my other challenges to work on. But I wish you luck, and happy reading!

Thanks Lark!
