I’ve decided to join the 2024 Beat The Backlist reading challenge hosted by Austin Decker at austindecker.com . Started in 2017, Beat the Backlist is here to help you tackle all the books you keep meaning to read and still haven’t. No matter what you like to read, this challenge is here for it!
The Challenge Runs from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024.
The Rules:
The rules are simple:
- The book must have been published in 2023 or earlier.
- You have to start and finish the book in 2024.
- And that’s it!
Sharing on social media? Don’t forget the #BeatTheBacklist tag!
Any format, any genre. Re-reads count, you don’t have to own the book, and you can join at any time. Track your BTB reading separately or pair it with another reading challenge!
My goal is to read 12 books from my backlist in 2024. There is also a challenge that includes prompts but I’ve chosen not to participate in this.
Will you be participating in the 2024 Beat The Backlist Reading challenge? Which challenges are you participating in for 2024? Let me know in the comments.
As always, I hope you have a wonderful day.

This is such a great idea for a challenge. There are so many books that I’ve been meaning to get to, so this would be a great push at finally checking them off my list. Thank you for sharing Jodie!

Good luck to you too Carla!
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
I’m going to participate in this one this year as well! I like that it has a StoryGraph challenge aspect as I’ve been using that all this past year. I am doing the smaller challenge with prompts. I’ve found all but a book with 3+ points of view. Need to research my TBR books to see what I have for that one. Or I may switch it out with another prompt from the larger selection if I don’t have any. I’d really like to stick to what books are on my physical shelf if I can. Good luck to both of us!
