Before I Do is the story of a woman who sees “the one that got away” on the night before her wedding to another man. Will she still say “I Do”?

From The Publisher:
Head-in-the-stars Audrey is about to marry down-to-earth Josh. Though they are polar opposites, they have a healthy, stable relationship; Josh is just what Audrey needs. But romance should be unpredictable and full of fireworks, and as the big day approaches, Audrey’s found herself wondering if Josh really is The One.
So, when Josh’s sister shows up to the rehearsal dinner with Fred, Audrey’s What If? guy–the man she met six years ago and had one amazing day with–Audrey finds herself torn. Surely Fred’s appearance the night before she is due to get married can’t be a coincidence. And when everything that could go wrong with the wedding starts to go wrong, Audrey has to ask herself: Is fate trying to stop her from making a huge mistake? Or does destiny just have a really twisty sense of humour?
My Thoughts:
Do you believe in fate? That’s the question that the bride-to-be Audrey has to ask herself when on the eve of her wedding Fred shows up at her rehearsal dinner. The reader is provided with information about their shared past as the story unfolds.
Set to marry the love of her life Josh, Audrey shouldn’t be questioning her decision to marry him. But then Fred was the guy that got away? And why are the last-minute wedding preparations suggesting she should not be marrying Josh?
Audrey has always been a bit scattered and the arrival of Fred has thrown her into a tailspin. Her indecisiveness over whether or not to go ahead with the wedding exemplifies this. Sometimes fate has a way of deciding for us.
I enjoyed this book and was entertained throughout. I like the use of various time periods to unfold the story up to the time of the wedding. I didn’t know who Audrey would choose Fred or Josh but was happy with her ultimate choice and the reason why.
I listened to the audiobook version of Before I Do which was narrated by Emma Sidi. I appreciated her performance and the enthusiasm with which she narrated the book. I would not hesitate to recommend the audiobook to those that enjoy this format.
I recommend this book to those readers who enjoy romance novels.
What I Liked:
- The fun-loving, free-spirited protagonist
- The use of multiple time frames to unfold the story
- The satisfying conclusion

Nice review, Jodie. I am not big on love triangles, but this sounds a bit different. Glad you enjoyed it and the ending.

Wendy Williams
I couldn’t figure out who Audrey would end up with either. Usually, it’s pretty clear who the good guy is and who the bad guy is, but not in this one! Terrific review, Jodie.
