Summary:
Hendrix Barry has built a life most people only dream of—thriving business, incredible friends, and a loving family—but with the added challenge of caring for an aging parent, romance is the last thing on her mind. Relationships, in her experience, don’t offer a great return on investment, and she’s never met a man who can keep up with her ambition. Until Maverick Bell. The tech mogul is all charm, confidence, and undeniable chemistry, making Hendrix feel seen in a way no one else ever has. But he’s the one man she can’t have if she wants to stay on the path she’s worked so hard to carve. Yet when Maverick pursues her with relentless passion and understanding, she’s left wondering—should she finally let herself have something more?
My Thoughts:
Having read the first two books in Kennedy Ryan’s Skyland series, I was thrilled to dive into the third instalment, Can’t Get Enough. This time, the spotlight is on Hendrix Barry—a smart, ambitious woman thriving in the entertainment world with a successful business, a close-knit circle of phenomenal friends, and a family she absolutely adores. She’s the kind of woman who seems to have it all together, but as her friends Yasmen and Soledad (who we got to know in the previous books) settle into their own families, Hendrix starts to quietly crave something more.
Enter Maverick Bell. Tech mogul, charming as all get-out, and completely off-limits—or at least, he should be. Their first encounter is magnetic, even before Hendrix realizes who he is. The complication? Maverick is dating a woman Hendrix is working with on a major project. Once that relationship ends unexpectedly, things start to shift. Maverick expresses an interest in investing in Hendrix’s business initiative that supports Black women entrepreneurs, and the professional connection soon sizzles into something undeniable.
Kennedy Ryan writes their chemistry beautifully—there’s no denying the electricity between Hendrix and Maverick. Personally, I’m not a fan of open-door romance scenes, so I skipped those parts, but I can still appreciate the passion and respect that underpins their connection. That said, readers should know that the language in some parts of the book is quite colourful—it didn’t always work for me and might not appeal to everyone.
One of the most touching elements of the story is Hendrix’s relationship with her mother, who is living with dementia in another city. The emotional toll of watching a parent slowly lose pieces of themselves is something Ryan portrays with grace, care, and deep compassion. Anyone who has experienced the decline of a loved one due to this cruel disease will find these moments achingly relatable and sensitively told.
Final Thoughts:
Can’t Get Enough is a layered and heartfelt story about ambition, love, responsibility, and choosing joy even when it feels risky. Kennedy Ryan continues to impress with her ability to weave complex, authentic characters into emotionally rich narratives.
