Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club (Hello Sunshine)’s pick for April 2025:
Founded in 2017, Hello Sunshine always chooses books with women at the centre of the story. Their website notes “We make our choices thoughtfully and look for ways to deepen our connection to books, authors and ourselves”. This book club chose “All That Life Can Afford” by Emily Everett as their April 2025 pick.

Length: 384 pages.
Genre: Women’s Fiction, Coming of Age
Summary:
All That Life Can Afford is a lyrical coming-of-age novel about Anna, a young American woman who arrives in London chasing a dream shaped by novels, only to find herself struggling with the same financial hardships she hoped to escape. When she is drawn into the glamorous world of the wealthy Wilders, tutoring their daughter and jet-setting to Saint-Tropez, Anna becomes enamoured with their effortless privilege. Caught between two men—one who offers luxury and another who sees her truth—she must decide what she’s willing to sacrifice to belong. A sharp exploration of class, reinvention, and self-discovery, the novel examines the cost of rewriting one’s story while staying true to its origins.
Good Morning America’s Book Club’s pick:
The GMA Book Club is officially called “Cover to Cover” and was started in the Fall of 2019. Their selections highlight diversity and books are chosen from both fiction and non-fiction genres. The book club chose “The Sirens” by Emilia Hart as their April 2025 pick.
Summary:
The Sirens is a mesmerizing tale of sisterhood, mystery, and the supernatural, spanning centuries. In 2019, Lucy flees to her sister Jess’s coastal home after a terrifying episode with her ex-lover, only to find Jess missing and eerie rumours swirling about the town—vanished men, a baby abandoned in a sea cave, and ghostly voices on the waves. As Lucy’s dreams grow more vivid, they seem to echo the past, where in 1800, Irish sisters Mary and Eliza are torn from home and sent to Australia on a convict ship, their bodies undergoing inexplicable changes. Weaving together two timelines, The Sirens is a haunting, beautifully written novel about resilience, magic, and the unbreakable bonds between women.
Read With Jenna (Jenna Bush Hager)’s pick:
In March 2019, the former First Daughter announced her book club on the Today show. Each month she chooses a book that is sure to generate discussion. Jenna chose “Heartwood” by Amity Gaige as her April 2025 pick.
Summary:
Heartwood follows the gripping search for Valerie Gillis, a seasoned hiker who vanishes 200 miles from her Appalachian Trail finish line in Maine. As she battles the elements and pens fragmented letters to her mother, Maine State Game Warden Beverly leads the desperate rescue effort, while Lena, a retired birdwatcher in Connecticut, unexpectedly aids the investigation from afar. As the mystery deepens, it becomes clear Valerie’s disappearance may not be accidental. Blending suspense with introspection, Heartwood explores resilience, redemption, and the many ways we become lost—and found.
Oprah’s Book Club:
Oprah Winfrey started this book club in 1996 as a segment on her TV show. Many obscure titles have risen to bestseller status as a result of her picks. Oprah’s latest pick is “The Tell” by Amy Griffin.
Summary:
For decades, Amy Griffin ran—through the streets of New York, a successful career, and the milestones of marriage and motherhood—while unknowingly fleeing a buried childhood trauma. When her daughter’s poignant question, “Where are you, Mom?” forces her to confront the past, Amy embarks on a profound journey of self-discovery, exploring psychedelic therapy, the judicial system, and ultimately returning to her Texas roots. In examining perfectionism, control, and the societal pressures on women to seek external validation, Griffin uncovers the transformative power of radical truth-telling, offering a path toward deeper connection and self-acceptance.
