Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club (Hello Sunshine)’s pick for February 2025:
Founded in 2017, Hello Sunshine always chooses books with women at the centre of the story. Their website notes “We make our choices thoughtfully and look for ways to deepen our connection to books, authors and ourselves”.  This book club chose “Isola” by Allegra Goodman as their February 2025 pick.
Summary:
Born into wealth, Marguerite’s future is one of privilege until she is orphaned and placed under the care of a cruel guardian who squanders her fortune and forces her to accompany him on an expedition to New France. There, she forms a deep bond with his servant, but when their relationship is discovered, they are violently punished and abandoned on a desolate island. Stripped of her former life of luxury, Marguerite must battle the elements to survive, finding strength and faith she never knew she needed. Inspired by a true sixteenth-century heroine, Isola is a timeless tale of resilience and survival against all odds.
Good Morning America’s Book Club’s pick:
The GMA Book Club is officially called “Cover to Cover” and was started in the Fall of 2019. Their selections highlight diversity and books are chosen from both fiction and non-fiction genres. The book club chose “Junie” by Erin Crosby Eckstine as their February 2025 pick.
Summary:
Sixteen-year-old Junie, born into slavery on Bellereine Plantation in Alabama, spends her days serving the white master’s daughter, Violet, while secretly grieving the loss of her sister, Minnie. When wealthy guests arrive from New Orleans, disrupting her world with talk of Violet’s marriage, Junie takes a desperate action that awakens Minnie’s spirit, binding her to the earthly realm. Determined to free her sister, Junie seeks help from Caleb, a coachman whose growing affection offers both comfort and complication. As she uncovers Bellereine’s dark secrets, Junie realizes she must confront the forces controlling her life. With time running out, she faces a profound choice: in pursuing love and liberation, what must she sacrifice?
Read With Jenna (Jenna Bush Hager)’s pick:
In March 2019, the former First Daughter announced her book club on the Today show. Each month she chooses a book that is sure to generate discussion. Jenna chose “This Is a Love Story” by Jessica Soffer as her February 2025 pick.
Summary:
For fifty years, Abe and Jane have found solace, love, and reflection in Central Park, a constant backdrop to their evolving relationship—from young lovers to parents and artists. Now, as Jane is dying, Abe revisits their life together, reliving their joys, struggles, and the sacrifices they made for love and art. Their story unfolds through multiple perspectives, including their estranged son Max, who resents Jane’s devotion to her craft, and a determined student of Abe’s seeking her own love story. Even Central Park itself lends its voice, weaving a poignant and lyrical meditation on love, art, and the complexities of devotion.

Oprah Winfrey started this book club in 1996 as a segment on her TV show. Many obscure titles have risen to bestseller status as a result of her picks. Oprah’s latest pick is “A New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle.
