The one positive thing that happened as a result of the pandemic is that I’ve been participating in more book-related streaming content. Friends & Fiction is one such Facebook Live and Youtube group that is hosted by five bestselling authors each Wednesday. Kristy Woodson Harvey is one of these authors and one that I hadn’t heard much about before finding this group. After reading her 2021 release Under the Southern Sky earlier this year, I knew that I wanted to read more of the author’s books. Feels Like Falling was released in 2020 and has solidified my appreciation for this author’s work.
Plot Summary
Gray Howard runs a successful multi-million dollar business and has a lovely home on the North Carolina coast. After recently losing her mother to cancer, and her husband to his executive assistant, Gray feels like she could use some positivity in her life.
Diana Harrington has had a hard life. A traumatic childhood and a string of bad relationships have left her homeless. When she loses her job at the photo lab after a complaint from Gray, Diana finds herself while once again sleeping in her car while trying to dig herself out of a financial mess.
Gray notices Diana sleeping in her car and invites her to stay in the guest house on her property. The two get to know one and in short, order develop a relationship that changes both of their lives for the better.
Book Review
I enjoyed Feels Like Falling. The story is told from the dual narrative of Gray and Diana. These women are both strong female characters in their own right who enter each other’s lives at precisely the right moment. Gray provides the financial stability that Diana needs, while Diana helps Gray to realize what she wants for her life. It is beautiful to witness the healing power of such a relationship and the evolution of each of these women through the course of the book.
The author not only does a great job of developing the primary characters but the supporting characters as well. I was deeply interested in all these characters and wanted to read more. The conclusion of this book is satisfying, yet lends itself to a possible series.
Audiobook Review
I listened to the audiobook version of Feels Like Falling which was performed by Kelsey Navarro and Amanda Ronconi. Their performance was full of expression and enthusiasm and was easy to listen to. I would not hesitate to choose this version of the book for those that appreciate this format.
What I Liked About Feels Like Falling:
- The strong reciprocal relationship between the two women
- The level of development of both the central and secondary characters
- The central theme of taking a chance in life
I Recommend This Book To:
Readers who enjoy Women’s Fiction celebrating female relationships.

I’ve never listened to an audiobook; maybe I should so I can gravitate towards different genres to my usual. This book sounds intriguing and not the usual story I would be interested in, but I might give it a go on audio. I need to broaden my horizons.
