Those of you who follow my blog know I enjoy a great thriller. Find You First is Linwood Barclay’s twentieth book and I absolutely loved it! It also means I have nineteen of his earlier books that are now on my To Be Read list. Let me introduce you to Find You First.
Plot Summary
Miles Cookson has made billions of dollars in technology development. In his early forties, he’s concentrated on the business part of his life without much thought of a social life. Recently diagnosed with a terminal genetic illness, he’s anxious to find his biological children as the result of a sperm donation two decades ago. With the means to find these young adults, his goal is to alert them to their propensity to have inherited the same illness, and to leave them part of his estate. Within a few days of his diagnosis, Miles has a list of nine children whose mothers are documented to have used his sperm.
As he begins his search for his biological children, he meets Chloe Swanson who is on her own journey to find her biological father. Chloe’s mother had used the same New York sperm bank that Miles has donated to, and her name is on Miles’ list. Their excitement at potentially being related is overshadowed, however, by a series of mysterious deaths. These deaths are included on Miles’ list of potential heirs. Who is eliminating these heirs, and why?
Book Review
This is a thoroughly enjoyable read. I loved the magnificent character development, as well as the intense, fast-paced storyline. Without giving anything away, the criminal element in the book is reminiscent of recent events in our real world. The relationship between Miles and Chloe was thoughtfully written. The plot is full of extreme twists and turns which will have you hanging on to each word. There are many characters you will likely loathe, and you will see how their individual storylines coming together in an exciting climax. There is an underlying theme of the diversity in ethics of the extremely wealthy was so well done. Simply said, I cannot recommend this book enough.
What I Liked About Find You First:
- The suspenseful, highly-engaging storyline
- The magnitude of the character development
- The diversity in the ethics of the extremely wealthy characters
I Recommend This Book To:

Having read your review, I’d have given it five stars also. Interestingly, immediately as I read Miles Cookson, I thought wealthy and it continued to read ‘made his billions’ Haha!
