Have I Told You This Already?: Stories I Don’t Want to Forget to Remember is Lauren’s Graham’s latest memoir. It’s a hilarious look at this actor/author’s life.

From The Publisher:
Candid, insightful, and wildly entertaining essays about life, love, and lessons learned as an actress in Hollywood, from the beloved star of Gilmore Girls and New York Times bestselling author of Talking as Fast as I Can.
With her signature sense of humor and down-to-earth storytelling, Lauren Graham opens up about her years working in the entertainment business—from the sublime to the ridiculous—and shares personal stories about everything from family and friendship to the challenges of aging gracefully in Hollywood. In “RIP Barneys New York,” she writes about an early job as a salesperson at the legendary department store — and the time she inadvertently shoplifted; in “Ne Oublie” she warns us about the perils of coming from an extremely forgetful family; and in “Actor-y Factory” she recounts what a day in the life of an actor looks like (unless you’re Brad Pitt).
Filled with surprising anecdotes, sage advice, and laugh-out-loud observations, Graham’s latest collection of all-new, original essays showcases the winning charm and wit that she’s known for.
My Thoughts:
If you’re a Gilmore Girls fan and wonder what Lauren Graham is like in real life look no further. She is just as fast-thinking and quick-witted in real life as she was as Lorelai Gilmore. Her latest collection of essays is called “Have I Told You This Already” and is fast-paced and highly entertaining.
Graham has a special way of telling a story. She is down-to-earth and intelligent making her essays fun and easy to listen to. Many are based on her younger years waiting for her big break into theatre and TV. Others give you a glimpse into her creative mind including an essay of an older make-believe character which she first wrote about in her earlier book “I’m Talking As Fast As I Can” (and yes she does talk fast).
There are essays written about her co-stars and the special relationships that she developed over the years. Others speak of her numerous talk show appearances. I loved her stories about working at Barney’s in New York City and her overall observations of the world around us.
I highly recommend you choose the audiobook format for this book as no one could deliver this performance like Lauren Graham. I did have to lower the speed of the audiobook from my usual 1.5x to 1.2x to capture each word (I warned you, she is just as fast-talking as she was as Lorelai).
I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys humorous memoirs.
What I Liked:
- The author’s writing style
- The vast array of essays from different points in the author’s life
- The inside peek into life as a celebrity
