Filled with holiday cheer and festivities, On Christmas Avenue by Ginny Baird is perfect for those readers looking ahead to Christmas 2021. This book publishes on September 21 by Hallmark Publishing.
Plot Summary
Mary is a Christmas consultant hired by the small town of Clark Creek to bring in revenue to this struggling community. She’s lived in hotel rooms most of her life and is charmed by Clark Creek and its residents. Evan is the county sheriff and doesn’t agree with his mother, the Mayor of Clark Creek, that spending money on a consultant is the best idea. But who is he to argue with the mayor?
Mary decides on a Christmas parade for the town which has Evan’s staff and many others running around trying to prepare for the event. As things begin to come together, Evan begins to see the value of hosting the parade and marvels in the enthusiasm of the consultant. This confirmed bachelor begins spending more and more time with Mary, helping her with the parade and showing her the beauty of the town. Could the Christmas Parade result in more than just an opportunity to raise funds this holiday season?
Book Review
On Christmas Avenue has the signature charm many of us associate with Hallmark. The descriptions of Clark Creek and its residents provide the reader with the tranquillity many of us are craving right now. The characters are all well written and likeable. The book flows naturally as Mary comes to town and begins planning the parade.
My favourite part of the book is the actual parade. The author provides lots of narrative descriptions, firmly setting the Christmas vibe to this story. The predictability of this book is a given and doesn’t matter. It’s the magic of the holiday season and falling in love that makes this book a joy to read.
Audiobook Review
I listened to the audiobook version of this book which was narrated by Amanda Stribling who gives a good performance. Her enthusiasm, and sweet tone to her voice, provide an easy listening experience. Those readers who enjoy audiobooks may wish to choose this format.
What I Liked About On Christmas Avenue:
- The descriptions of the small town and its residents
- The Christmas vibe throughout much of the book
- The escape to a less hectic world which this book provides.
I Recommend This Book To:
Those readers who enjoy a holiday romance novel.

ooh, Christmas novels! This book sounds very sweet and heartwarming, and I’m sure I watched a Hallmark film with this plot last year (except they realize that the ski village/revenue would destroy the town). However, this book sounds much better and sweeter! Thanks for sharing this Christmas read.

YOu had me at Christmas! Haha. I absolutely love anything Christmas related and this book sounds perfect for me. I’ve just pre-ordered it on audible as I love listening to audio books when out and about. It’s not available for me until 21 September it seems. But I’ll likely keep it until closer to Christmas to get me in the mood. Thanks for the recommendation!
