Summary:
In this poignant and uplifting novel, Sophie and Tom, who first fell in love during a magical student trip to Paris, vowed to return every summer to their special place on the Pont du Carrousel. But five years after a life-altering event tore them apart, Sophie travels to Paris alone to meet Tom at midnight, carrying a revelation that will change everything. A story of love, loss, and second chances, this emotional tale is perfect for fans of David Nicholls, Kristin Hannah, and The Notebook.
My Thoughts:
Midnight in Paris is an emotional yet uplifting story about love, loss, and the resilience of the human spirit. It follows Sophie and Tom over a decade of annual trips to Paris, capturing their deep connection to each other and to the city itself. From their early days as young students falling in love to a life-altering event that changes everything, their story is both heart-wrenching and inspiring.
The novel is structured through alternating timelines—then and now—which kept me engaged as I pieced together their journey. As Sophie returns to Paris alone, meeting Tom at their special spot on the Pont du Carrousel at midnight, the emotional weight of their history becomes clear. Their love story is beautifully written, and while the pacing felt a little slow at times, I was always invested in where it was going.
Beyond romance, this book is also about grief and the courage it takes to move forward. It highlights the importance of leaning on those around us, taking life one day at a time, and finding strength even in the darkest moments.
The Narration:
I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Lucy Scott. While I found her performance articulate and expressive, her voice felt a bit too mature for the characters. That said, I’d still recommend the audiobook for those who enjoy this format.
Final Thoughts:
Midnight in Paris is a touching and heartfelt read, perfect for anyone who loves a story about love, loss, and second chances—with Paris as the perfect backdrop.

Midnight in Paris sounds like a great book. It does remind me a little bit of People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry with the alternating timelines, but Midnight in Paris does sound deeper and more emotional.

It is definitely more emotional Karalee.
