A few years ago, I travelled to Alaska and took in the beauty of this area. Since that time, I enjoy reading books which are set there. When I read the synopsis for Mistletoe and Mr Right I thought it might be a cute holiday read. My library had the audiobook format available so I chose this format to listen to the story.
Lana Montgomery comes from a wealthy business family. She’s also a woman with a mission to make the world a better place. Once a tourist in the community, Lana has joined the Alaskan community of Moose Springs and has had a hard time fitting in. Determined to change this, she begins tracking the elusive Santa Moose. No one has ever actually seen this moose, but the town knows that it destroys Christmas-related outdoor lights and decorations year after year.
Rick Harding is a resident of the town and runs a bar in town – at least for now. On the brink of financial ruin, Rick is in need of tourists to keep his business profitable. The town is divided on the idea of tourism with many simply wanting to keep the town as it is and not grow it to be a tourist destination. He has had eyes for Lana since she arrived back in town. As a way of spending as much time with her as possible, he joins her in the quest to find the Santa Moose.
This is a fun romantic comedy with lots of banter back and forth between Lana and Rick. The story may be predictable, but what else would you expect from a rom-com? The characters are likeable, and well-developed. Although the story felt a little long in parts, it always kept me engaged. Simply said, it’s a cozy, light-hearted read. The book is the second in the author’s Moose Springs series, but I had no problems reading this it as a standalone. Having said that, I will likely go back and read the first book in the series just for a bit of back story with another couple in the town and for the pure enjoyment.
I listened to the audiobook version of Mistletoe & Mr Right which was performed by Elise Arsenaut who does a great job of narrating the story. Her voice is age-appropriate and articulate. I loved the enthusiasm for the story heard in her expression. I listened to the story at my usual 1.25x speed and found this to be perfect. I have no problem in recommending this book as an audiobook for those of you who enjoy this format.
My rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️/5.
