My Week:
We had our first significant snowfall on Tuesday causing chaos on the streets of Metro Vancouver. We don’t get a lot of snow here so many people decide it’s fine to drive without snow tires. But we got several inches. My son’s usual 20 minute commute at 10 PM lasted 3.5 hours (he has snow tires) but others reported commutes of up to 13 hours. Transport trucks were sliding out and getting stuck on bridges and major roads blocking access for everyone. A snow plow went into a ditch. Our transit system becomes very dysfunctional as well.
We got good news on our range finally with our extended warranty providing us with a store credit to the original cost of our range. We were able get into the store and order a new one which is supposed to arrive next week.
I also celebrate my 60th Birthday this weekend! My sister is preparing a celebratory meal in my honour and I’m looking forward to this and spending time with my whole family. I feel blessed to have reached this milestone birthday as so many have been taken far too soon.

What I’m Watching:
Michael Buble is a native of Vancouver and an entertainer I’ve been following since he was in his teens. His Christmas special for 2022 aired this week and I’m looking forward to watching it soon. Sorry I couldn’t find a clip to show you but it will be re-broadcast in the coming weeks.

I am surprised to hear that snow causes such problems in Vancouver. I guess I always imagined that everyone knows how to drive in the snow there. The very few times we have ever had snow—whew! It’s been a mess here, but that’s to be expected along the Gulf Coast of Texas.
Happy birthday, Jodie! How wonderful to have a sister who is preparing a lovely meal for you!

Thanks Deb! Vancouver is not like much of Canada during winter. We tend to have much more mild temperatures and some years don’t even get any snow.
Anne - Books of My Heart
Wow when the commute is like that it’s a work at home day. I’m so glad you finally got progress on your stove. Happy birthday!

Oh I love Michael Buble too! His Christmas album is perfection!

I couldn’t agree more Charity! Thanks for reading.
Wendy Williams
When I lived in South Dakota, I never minded driving in snow, because almost everyone knew how to drive in snow. When I lived in Las Vegas, it snowed one day, only a couple of inches, and the roads were chaos! Looks like you had a great week, Jodie!

I can only imagine Wendy! Thanks for reading.
Aj @ Read All The Things!
Happy birthday! The snow here in Colorado sometimes causes delays, but they’re not THAT bad. I guess people are pretty good at dealing with snow because we have it for 6 months of the year.
thathappyreader
Thank you AJ! I’m sure everyone there have snow tires too!
Amanda Kay Oaks-Christman
Happy early birthday! Hope you have a good one and a great week.

Thank you Amanda!
Benny
Thank you Jodi for this update. It is really tricky to drive in the snow which I learned a few weeks ago, especially if you don’t have proper tires. I didn’t get into an accident, but I almost slid out of a roundabout and only barely managed to stop it before the crub. Friend still had to put winter tires on.
The reading tips look great, thank you.

I’m glad you were okay Benny! Thanks for reading.
Carla
I watched all the news from BC showing all the snow. It is tough when you usually don’t get snow and you do. Happy upcoming birthday, Jodie. Enjoy your time with family and have fun celebrating.

Thank you Carla!

I saw the snow chaos in Vancouver on the news. I take it everything is back to normal now? And happy birthday! Hope it’s an amazingly wonderful day.
