My Week:
Despite some rain this weekend, we had a beautiful sunny and warm week. We’ve planted our vegetable garden and our flower gardens are full of lovely tulips and the winter pansies are in full bloom right now. Azaleas and rhododendrons are amass with colour. We will be getting hanging baskets next week. I love spring!
Other than spending time in the garden and long walks it’s been a quiet week. I’m in a bit of a reading slump which has persisted for several weeks now. Reading Drowning by T.J. Newman last week was the most excited I’ve been to read in some time. I’ll be posting my review closer to it’s publication day at the end of this month but let it just be said that it’s a propulsive thriller that was a 5 star read for me. Perhaps I need to change up my reading to include more thrillers?

What I’m Watching:
This week we watched “The Impossible” on Netflix and we were both transfixed to what was happening on the screen. The movie is from 2012 and stars Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor and is the true story of a family of tourists in Thailand during the 2004 tsunami. We thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Here’s the trailer:

Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
We need some rain here. It seems to keep going all around us. Although my grass is still growing like crazy. Some good books on your radar. Hope you have a good week!
thathappyreader
Thanks Lisa! Our grass is growing exceptionally fast too!
Fransic verso
That’s awesome that you planted some vegetables. Love the rain and we had some as well. Hope you will have a lovely week and Sunday!
thathappyreader
Thank you Fransic!
Tamyara
It rained all weekend in Buffalo. I am currently reading a book by Eric Jerome Dickey called the business of lovers. I am binge watching Snow and of course writing.

I hope the sun comes out soon for you Tamyara!
Carla
All of your books are also on my TBR Jodie. I have to mix it up or I know I will get in a rut. I am taking a bit of a break from Historical Fiction (especially WWII) as I am getting burned out on it, so I know the feeling. That trailer was amazing, I need to watch that movie. Have a wonderful week and enjoy all that colour in your gardents.

Thank you Carla!
Mareli Thalwitzer
Oh I remember Impossible! It was a great movie, disturbing and still can’t believe it all really happened.
You have a few interesting books this week! I hope you get to enjoy them all.
Have a great week ahead!

Thanks Mareli!
Anne - Books of My Heart
I love spring here also. I have changed to more mystery/thriller than romance because it feels like there is more plot. I read all kinds of genres though. Drowning was 5 hearts for me too.
thathappyreader
Yes I think that’s the key Anne! I can’t stop thinking of Drowning it was so good!
JoAnn @ Gulfside Musing
Spring is such a beautiful time of year! I remember visiting The Biltmore in Asheville, NC one year when the azaleas were at their peak… I’ve never seen so much gorgeous color. Hope your reading slump lifts this week.
thathappyreader
Thank you JoAnn!

I really like the books you have read and are reading. I can’t seem to resist a book-about-books, and a trip to Italy may be in the cards for us this fall. Thank you for sharing these with us.
My husband has taken over my vegetable garden, so I’ve been trying to learn about native plants, especially native flowering plants. I’ve been surprised to see what has returned after the hard freeze one day we had last winter.

Italy sounds wonderful! I been a couple of times and have enjoyed it immensely. Have a great week Deb!
