Have you ever thought what it would be like to live on a ranch in the early 1900’s? Rescuing Harmony Ranch by Jennie Marts is a charming romance novel which takes place on a working ranch in Colorado. Visitors to the ranch are educated in what it was like to live and work on a ranch during the early 20th century.
Plot Summary
Jocelyn grew up on this ranch and loved it. Her mother, wishing to give Jocelyn more opportunities in life, moved Jocelyn with her to New York for her remaining high school education. She’s loved her time in New York and has a promising career in marketing. Indeed, she is up for a big promotion. But family trumps everything so when Jocelyn’s Grandmother has an accident and needs her help, she drops everything to be by her side. She can work remotely while on the ranch and still be able to help her Grandmother.
When she arrives, she learns from her Grandmother that the help she needs is in raising money to make a large balloon payment on the ranch or she will be forced to sell. She also learns that Mack, her boyfriend of many of her teenage years and the love of her life, is now divorced and as handsome as ever. He’s also been enlisted to help save the ranch and the two work closely together to plan several events. But will her love for Mack be enough for her to stay in Colorado and give up everything she’s worked for in New York?
Book Review
I always enjoy a Hallmark romance, and this book is no exception. I’m a big fan of second chance romances and I enjoyed the competitive nature and banter between Jocelyn and Mack. I also appreciate books with the story of love between generations of a family and this book has plenty of lovely, sweet moments. I adored that the setting was on a historical ranch and the descriptions of the clothing worn by the volunteers. The character development was very good, and the story kept me engaged throughout.
What I Liked About Rescuing Harmony Ranch:
- The setting of being on an educational ranch
- The love of family
- The inclusion of older members of the community and dogs in the story
I Recommend Rescuing Harmony Ranch to:
Those readers that enjoy a sweet romance novel with a second chances trope.
