The Key To My Heart is a heartwarming story of a young widow who begins finding the sheet music to her late husband’s favourite songs in a most unusual place.

From The Publisher:
Sparkly and charming Natalie Fincher has it all—a handsome new husband, a fixer-upper cottage of her dreams, and the opportunity to tour with the musical she’s spent years writing. But when her husband suddenly dies, all her hopes and dreams instantly disappear.
Two and a half years later, Natalie is still lost. She works, sleeps (well, as much as the sexually frustrated village foxes will allow), and sees friends just often enough to allay their worries, but her life is empty. And she can only bring herself to play music at a London train station’s public piano where she can be anonymous. She’s lost motivation, faith in love, in happiness…in everything.
But when someone begins to mysteriously leave the sheet music for her husband’s favorite songs at the station’s piano, Natalie begins to feel a sense of hope and excitement for the first time. As she investigates just who could be doing this, Natalie finds herself on an unexpected journey toward newfound love for herself, for life, and maybe, for a special someone.
My Thoughts:
Lia Louis has written another heartfelt story that reinforces why she is an auto-buy author for me. The Key To My Heart is an emotional read with messages of hope, friendship, determination and survival.
Natalie Fincher had it all – a career she loves, a new husband and a charming fixer-upper cottage she’s looking forward to making her home. When her husband suddenly dies, her life as she knows it disappears along with him.
Two and a half years later, Natalie is still reeling from this loss. The author conveys these emotions beautifully in her words – the despair is palpable. Those around her are concerned for her well-being.
Playing piano at a London tube station is one of the few joys in Natalie’s life. When someone starts leaving her sheet music of her late husband’s favourite songs it reignites a spark in Natalie bringing her joy and hope for a life without her husband.
As the book progresses, the reader is challenged with guessing who is behind the mystery of the music. We learn of several relationships, some romantic others platonic, that had me hypothesizing if they were the mystery gift giver.
One cannot help but cheer Natalie on. I thoroughly enjoyed watching her character transform as the book progressed. Without giving anything away, I loved the conclusion of this book and the key messages.
I listened to the audiobook version of The Key To My Heart which was narrated by Victoria Fox. I enjoyed her articulate and easy to listen to performance and have no hesitation to recommend this version of the book to those that enjoy audiobooks.
I recommend this book to those readers who enjoy Romance or Women’s Fiction.
What I Liked:
- The level of character development of the protagonist
- The key messages in the book
- The mystery behind the sheet music
