Are you lucky enough to have a summer cottage? A place that you can return to each summer, that gives you the relaxing summer vibes and reenergizes you? If you’re aren’t lucky to have this (or can’t get enough of it), The Summer Cottage by Annie Rains will take you away on a restful vacation.
Plot Summary
Somerset Lake is the perfect place for Trisha Langly and her son Petey to start over. She’s happy to have found a job as the manager of the Somerset Cottages and appreciates her elderly boss Vi for providing her with a place to live and a decent wage. As she settles in, Trisha hopes that the reason behind making the move to Somerset Lake can remain a secret.
Jake Fletcher has returned to Somerset Lake after a tragedy many years ago that saw him leave. He’s returned to help his Grandmother Vi after her recent stroke and can’t help but notice the attractive new manager of the cottages. As Jake and Trisha start renovating the cottages, he begins to realize that Trisha is carrying a secret – and one that has impacted Vi. As the summer progresses, the two begin to develop feelings for one another. But can Trisha trust Jake with her secret?
Book Review
What a lovely summer read! I was immediately taken in by the glorious descriptions of Somerset Lake and the caring community who reside there. Having been a single mother myself, I am always appreciative of a a strong female protagonist trying to make a better home for their child. The characters are all extremely likeable, making this book highly relaxing and enjoyable. The introduction of Trisha into the community, including a supportive women’s book club. surely sets the stage for further books in the Somerset Lake series. I am definitely looking forward to reading more.
What I Liked About The Summer Cottage:
- The descriptions of the Somerset Lake cottages and community
- The single mother romantic trope
- A well written storyline that is easy to follow – perfect for the beach or summer cottage.
I Recommend This Book To:
Those readers that enjoy single parent romances set in small communities.
