My Week:
We’ve had a warm sunny week and it’s been lovely. The tulips are in full bloom and are keeping well. All of my rhodos and azaleas are also blooming and look beautiful. As a bonus, our hockey team, the Vancouver Canucks, have won the first round of playoffs. Our team has never won a Stanley Cup and we’re really hoping this is our year.
Dad received some bad news from his biopsy results and needs further surgery. This poor man has been through so many cancer surgeries in the past few years along with radiation treatment and now chemo that we were praying that additional treatment would not be necessary. So now we wait for yet another surgical date. Last weekend we celebrated his 88th birthday and tried to make it as festive as possible.
What I’m Watching:
I’m looking forward to watching another miniseries on Netflix which starts on Thursday called “A Man In Full”. It’s based on the 1998 novel by Tom Wolfe and centres on an Atlanta real estate mogul who suddenly finds himself on the verge of bankruptcy. It stars Jeff Daniels, Diane Lane, Lucy Liu and Sarah Jones. Here’s the trailer:

Sorry to hear that your poor father has to go through yet another major treatment. Glad you were all able to celebrate his 88th birthday:). It’s turning in a truly beautiful Spring here, too – very lush and the blossom is just amazing. I think it must be all the rain we had through the winter! Have a good week, Jodie:).

Praying for your dad! My stepdad’s newer treatment isn’t seeming to do much, in fact one of the readings PSA I think it’s called? It keeps going up. And he doesn’t feel like eating and has lost a ton of weight. So we are wondering why they either don’t go back to the regular chemo or try something else. I think I caught part of the Canuck game on tv the other day. That’s exciting! I guess our local minor league hockey team, the Kansas City Mavericks is actually doing well this year, in the 2nd round of the Kelly Cup playoffs? Anyway, I hope you have a good week!

I’m so sorry to hear that your dad is having to have another surgery. It’s great that you were able to celebrate his birthday before you got the news. Unfortunately for me, the Toronto Maple Leafs lost game 7 in overtime and are out. Now I will root for Vancouver. Have a wonderful week, Jodie.

Thank you Carla! I was saddened to see that Toronto wouldn’t go on to the next round.

I’m sorry your dad will have to undergo another surgery. I hate cancer. It took my mom from me twelve years ago, and it took my daughter-in-law’s mom, and my sister-in-law in recent years.
I loved seeing the tulips last weekend when we visited my son and daughter-in-law in Chicago. So beautiful. I think the peonies are about to bloom.

I hate cancer too Deb. It’s taken so many from me as well. I love peonies and hope mine will bloom soon too! I hope you’re having a great week.
