My Week:
We’ve had a beautiful weather week in Vancouver and I’ve loved getting out and enjoying it. The natural colours of the trees, grass and flowering plants are at their most vivid and I’m taking it all in. We’re in the midst of a thunderstorm as I write this Saturday morning and we are getting some much needed rain. The sun is expected to return later today. There are devastating wildfires in the northern part of our province as well as in our neighbouring provinces causing widespread evacuations. My thoughts and prayers are with those impacted and hope that they can soon return to intact homes.
I spent a wonderful Mother’s Day with my Mom, sister and niece. We had a lovely day shopping and having lunch. My son treated me to a lovely dinner when I got home. It was a lovely day.
The rest of the week has been quiet. My Dad has a surgical date at the end of the month – three days before my Mom’s own surgery. We went to the local nursery to pick up some plants but still have our hanging baskets and border plants to purchase and we hope to do that this weekend. In the garden, the bearded irises and lilac are in full bloom and look lovely. The peonies look as though they should open up in the next week.
What I’m Watching:
Hockey! We’ve watched games every second day and have enjoyed every heartstopping moment! Our Vancouver Canucks are one win away (game later tonight) to moving into the third round of the NHL playoffs. The town is buzzing with excitement and there are outdoor watch parties in many of our province’s communities. Go Canucks Go!
