My Week:
It’s sunny and hot here in Vancouver with temperatures much higher than normal – the heat dome impacting the west coast of the U.S. is also hitting us. I’m thankful that all of my family have central air conditioning installed. How is the weather where you are?
It’s been another quiet week. I’ve been walking and cycling most days early in the day before it gets too hot. I’ve also enjoyed spending time on the patio – one of my favourite places to read. The local strawberries are finishing and the raspberries are in season followed by blueberries in a week or so. Because of the unseasonably warm temperatures we had in January followed by the return of cold weather, the stone fruit crop in my province was completely decimated. This is the first time this has happened and as a result any peaches, nectarines or apricots for sale here are imported and therefore much more expensive. Hopefully this is only a one year issue.
What I’m Watching:
I watched “The Miracle Season” starring Helen Hunt this week on Netflix. It’s based on the true story of a high school volleyball team who tragically loses their star player and their struggle to move on. It’s inspirational and moving.

The Sunday Post #112
That’s a wrap on The Sunday Post #111. How was your week?
I wish you a wonderful week ahead!
Jody
It’s been unusually hot here, too, Jodie. I am thankful for air conditioning as well. We are going to be getting ready to pack and move for the next two to three weeks. I loathe doing this. That is one of the downsides of renting. There are good parts to renting, too, like the expense of the upkeep being the landlord’s responsibility. It’s going to be nice, though. We are finally getting away from supporting my daughter and her 7 kids, which has been too much for my husband and me (we are retired) for the last 6 years. It hasn’t been a great retirement for the past 2 years, that’s for sure. So now it’s time for us. Have a wonderful week, Jodie 😊

You have certainly done a lot for your daughter Jody and I hope your move goes well. Retirement is time for you and I hope you can enjoy it soon. Take care Jody.

The weather is really obsessing a lot of people this summer. Heat. Hurricanes. Floods or droughts. Too many clouds. Whatever.
thathappyreader
Weather can certainly be stressful for many – especially those who are vulnerable to heat, in the path of a hurricane etc.
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
We had the heat, but then this past week got a break and had a wonderful 4th for a change! You’ve got some reviews I need to check out! I wish I had a roof over my patio, I’d love to sit outside and read on the cooler days. And I’d need a way to keep my dogs from just going and eating everything they find on the ground too, lol. Hope it cools off for you a bit this week!

Thanks Lisa. We do not have a solid roof over the patio but one that filters light. I also use a patio umbrella to keep out of the sun.
Deb Nance at Readerbuzz
I like how you feature celebrity book club picks. I often miss these, and they generally choose excellent books.
It’s awful that the local crop of fruit was wiped out. I do hope the farmers are able to come back next year.

Thanks Deb. Yes I feel very badly for them. Our wine industry has been hit the past couple of years as well.
Anne - Books of My Heart
The temperatures here are similar to usual for the time of year but it’s much hotter – humidity and dewpoint. We are trying to relax and do the outside stuff early or late in the day. The beginning of the week was more normal, hotter from the 4th onward. This week looks more rainy which is great we had almost no rain in June.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post

We are now getting those “feels like” temperatures now as well Anne.

Hope you’re able to stay cool, Jodie💜 It’s extremely hot here in NC. Have a great week!

You too Jonetta!
Cindy's Book Corner
I was in TN for most of the week and it was crazy hot and humid. I am thankful not to have that kind of heat all the time anymore. I am looking forward to The Summer of Yes. Have a great week!

You too Cindy!

That’s too bad about the stone fruit. It’s amazing how errant weather can cause such devastation. This week, the temps weren’t too bad. We were in the high 80s / low 90s. The week before, though, we reached triple digits. I pretty much keep the A/C running constantly and hardly go outside. I hope you have a great week.

Triple digits are the worst Jenni! I’m glad we rarely get that high here.
Nas
Sounds like a good week overall. And sad about the fruit. Our weather is quite pleasant here.

I’m glad to hear that Nas.
Her Digital Coffee
I’m glad to hear you’ve been enjoying the weather! Reading on the patio sounds so relaxing. We’re expecting higher temperatures this week so I’m planning on staying indoors or in the shade. Have a great week Jodie!

You too Winnie!

Sorry to hear that you’re struggling so badly with the heat. My son who lives in Texas is also saying how grim it is:(. Here in the UK, July is reverting to April, cloudy, cool and showery. I’m not complaining too much given the flooding we had in the Spring and the heatwave we endured last summer. I hope you get some relief soon and that you’re having a good week.

Thank you Sarah.
Carla@CarlaLovesToRead
I think everyone’s weather has been crazy this year. We had our hottest June on record here in Southern Ontario. How awful about the seed fruit. I love peaches and am not sure if our harvest is on schedule of not. Have a wonderful week, Jodie.
