Welcome to The Sunday Post #113- now on Saturday! The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme. I will also be joining Deb at Readerbuzz for the Sunday Salon and Marlene of Reading Reality in her meme Stacking The Shelves.
My Week:
It continues to be hot and sunny here in Vancouver. We hand water our gardens but it seems a couple of hours later the ground is already dry. I’ve been trying to focus on more drought tolerant plants as this seems to be our normal now. Are there any that you would recommend?
I did a bit of shopping and had lunch out with my Mom and sister on Friday. It was such a fun and productive day. I think we all needed it to prepare for the upcoming week which is full of medical appointments and a minor surgery for my Mom. I’m praying there will not be any new surprises.
Books I’ve Added to My Shelves This Week:
From Publishers, Netgalley and Edelweiss+:
From The Library:
What I’m Watching:
We watched “The Long Game” on Netflix this week and really enjoyed it. It’s set in 1955 and is the true story of five young Mexican-American golf caddies who create their own golf course in Texas and the two men who become their coaches.

Thank you Mae!

Busy week, the lunch with family sounds fun. I have read a few other Viola Shipman novels and like the style. I was surprised to find out Viola is a man! That perspective seems female.

I love his books too and that he writes under his late Grandmother’s name.
Jonetta | Blue Mood Café
Great book haul, Jodie💜 Does this jean you’ll be doing the Sunday Post on Saturday’s going forward?
thathappyreader
Thanks Jonetta! Yes I’m going to post Saturdays for at least the foreseeable future.
Emily @ Budget Tales Book Blog
I hope your mom is ok.
The weather is crazy here in the UK at the moment. One minute torrential rain and the next blistering heat! Literally within hours of eachother!
Most of our tiny garden is plastic, but one plant that is real and has survived our crazy weather is the heuchera.
Have a great weekend!

Carla @CarlaLovesToRead
I hope all goes well with your mom’s surgery and that there are no surprises this week. I grow hostas, Jodie. They are pretty draught resistant, at least they flourish in my gardens and I don’t water them at all. Thanks for the heads up on the Emily March book, I just requested it. I hope you have a good week.
thathappyreader
Thanks Carla! I have a couple of hostas too.
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
Hoping all goes well for your mother this week! We had a break from the heat this past week, and it looks like a few more days of it this week. But then back to normal 90s by next weekend.

Anne - Books of My Heart
I hope your appts go well this week. My daughter has 5 coming up, possibly more. I really want Worst Case Scenario but the audio version which I haven’t figured out how to get it yet. I also seem to have overbooked myself a bit for reviews so maybe I will just read it at the library. I like daylilies. Since you are further north you could get some of the rock plants like arabis or other rock cress. I love campanula carpatica and it’s more a northern plant also. I have books I look at to figure these things out which I’ve had to relearn since North Carolina is very different than Minnesota.

Thank you Anne.
Bellezza
I had my eye on The Paris Novel for Paris in July 2024, and yet, I seem to be picking up other titles. Looking me in the eye, right now as I type, is George Orwell’s Down and Out in Paris and London. I hope it doesn’t disappoint.

I hope that you enjoy it Bellezza!
Jenni Elyse
Good luck with finding some more drought-resistant plants. I’m not really a plant or garden person so I’m no help in that arena unless you want some crocheted ones. 😀 LOL. I’m glad to hear you had a great day with your mom and sister and I hope your mom’s surgery goes well.
