Busy week, the lunch with family sounds fun. I have read a few other Viola Shipman novels and like the style. I was surprised to find out Viola is a man! That perspective seems female.

I love his books too and that he writes under his late Grandmother’s name.

  3. Jonetta | Blue Mood Café

Great book haul, Jodie💜 Does this jean you’ll be doing the Sunday Post on Saturday’s going forward?

    1. thathappyreader

Thanks Jonetta! Yes I’m going to post Saturdays for at least the foreseeable future.

I hope your mom is ok.

The weather is crazy here in the UK at the moment. One minute torrential rain and the next blistering heat! Literally within hours of eachother!

Most of our tiny garden is plastic, but one plant that is real and has survived our crazy weather is the heuchera.

    Have a great weekend!

The Long Game sounds good. I bet my husband, a golfer, would be interested, too. Thanks for the recommendaiton.

  6. Carla @CarlaLovesToRead

I hope all goes well with your mom’s surgery and that there are no surprises this week. I grow hostas, Jodie. They are pretty draught resistant, at least they flourish in my gardens and I don’t water them at all. Thanks for the heads up on the Emily March book, I just requested it. I hope you have a good week.

Thanks Carla! I have a couple of hostas too.

  7. Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)

Hoping all goes well for your mother this week! We had a break from the heat this past week, and it looks like a few more days of it this week. But then back to normal 90s by next weekend.

      Thank you Lisa. Stay cool!

  8. Cindy's Book Corner

I hope you enjoy all of these when you get the chance to read them. I also hope all the medical appointments go well, no bad news!

  9. Anne - Books of My Heart

I hope your appts go well this week. My daughter has 5 coming up, possibly more. I really want Worst Case Scenario but the audio version which I haven’t figured out how to get it yet. I also seem to have overbooked myself a bit for reviews so maybe I will just read it at the library. I like daylilies. Since you are further north you could get some of the rock plants like arabis or other rock cress. I love campanula carpatica and it’s more a northern plant also. I have books I look at to figure these things out which I’ve had to relearn since North Carolina is very different than Minnesota.

  10. Bellezza

I had my eye on The Paris Novel for Paris in July 2024, and yet, I seem to be picking up other titles. Looking me in the eye, right now as I type, is George Orwell’s Down and Out in Paris and London. I hope it doesn’t disappoint.

    1. thathappyreader

I hope that you enjoy it Bellezza!

  11. Jenni Elyse

Good luck with finding some more drought-resistant plants. I’m not really a plant or garden person so I’m no help in that arena unless you want some crocheted ones. 😀 LOL. I’m glad to hear you had a great day with your mom and sister and I hope your mom’s surgery goes well.

It’s been pretty hot where we at too.

It’s been scorching here in Calgary too and tomorrow’s supposed to be 33-34. I’m hoping it’ll cool down next week. I hope all goes well for your mom! Sending lots of love and positive energy! Have a wonderful week Jodie!
