My Week:
The sunny warm weather remains in Vancouver and I’m enjoying it. I’m really starting to notice the shortening day length now – we’ve lost about 35 minutes of daylight in the evening since the summer solstice. Because we are further north than many of you our day length is longer in summer – currently sunrise is 5:54 am and sunset at 8:39 pm. However this also means our day length in winter is shorter. For example, on Christmas Day the sun doesn’t rise until 8:06 am and sets at 4:18 pm. How does this compare with where you live?
It has been a quieter week for appointments but yesterday when I was taking my parents and their dog for an ultrasound and to pick up medication from the compounding pharmacy I had an accident with my new CRV. 😪 It is not drivable and I am heartbroken. On the bright side none of us were seriously injured and the car will eventually get fixed.
Books I’ve Added to My Shelves This Week:

From The Library: None
What I’m Watching:
I’m continuing to watch the Olympics this week along with Big Brother which is so interesting this season. Tucker is certainly shaking things up in the house and I can’t believe Angela is still there!

Oh, no! Your new car. So sorry this happened to you but glad you’re all safe.
I loved The Christmas Star and hope you do, too.

Thanks Jonetta.

Oh, wow, Jodie. Your poor new car. I am just happy to hear that you all were not hurt, though. Have a wonderful weekend 😊🌻📚

Thank you Jody.
Tina
I’m glad no one was injured but sorry about your CRV. Hope the dog is ok too, I worry about animals.
I like Kate Hewit and it’s been a while since I read any of her books.
thathappyreader
Thank you Tina. I haven’t read any of her books for years too but this one jumped out at me!
mae

Emily @ Budget Tales Book Blog
Here in the UK our sunrise is 5:39 am and sunset is 8:28 pm.
I’m glad that everyone is ok after the accident.
We are occasionally watching the Olympics in the background but we are pretty much just dipping in and out. There is a lot of talking and weird interviews rather than watching the actual sport.
Have a good weekend

I’ve been watching a lot of Olympics, too. What will I do next week when it is over? I have certainly spent a lot of time in front of the tube! I noticed that it was dark outside at 9 pm this week. Whoa, when did that happen? Shortening days.
thathappyreader
I’m thinking the same thing Anne!
Sarah Collins
Sorry to hear your car, so pleased you weren’t hurt.
I too am obsessed with the Olympics and have no idea what I’m going to watch once it’s over! Hope you have a lovely week and happy reading x
thathappyreader
Thanks Sarah. You too!
Erin @ Cracker Crumb Life

thathappyreader
Thanks Erin.

I’m so sorry about your new car but glad no one was seriously injured. That happened to me a long time ago. My first day out in my brand new little car, some lady rear ended me when I was giving my friend a ride in it. My friend’s dad was a lawyer so he got her some money out of it. All I got was higher insurance rates.
It wasn’t clear if the parents or the dog were getting the ultrasound, but I hope they were able to go ahead and make that appointment and that the results were good!
thathappyreader
Thanks Jinger. I am insured and because of my long accident-free history I hope that rates will not change too much. It was my parent’s dog who was ill that was having the ultrasound and the appointment was before accident.

Anne - Books of My Heart
So sorry about your car! The daylight time seems similar to Minnesota. It’s a little less in North Carolina.

Jenni Elyse
I’m in central Utah in the US. Summer solstice 2024: sunrise was 5:56am and sunset was 9:02pm. Winter solstice 2023: sunrise was 7:23am and sunset was 4:37pm. Even though I hate the heat because it’s so oppressive, I love sunlight and need sunlight for my mental health. I prefer cooler temperatures, but the lack of sunlight kills me.
I hope you have a great week!

Carla@CarlaLovesToRead
Oh no, Jodie. I’m so sorry to hear about your accident. I’m glad no one was hurt, but your new car…. I hope you love The Christmas Star, Jodie. It was one I really enjoyed. Our day lengths are similar to yours. I noticed last night that I have to change the timer on the outside lights because when I came home at 9:15, it was dark and the lights on the garage weren’t on. I hope you have a good week.
thathappyreader
Thank you Carla. Fall will soon be here. Have a great week!
Katie @Just Another Girl and Her Books
Oh, The Christmas Star would be a great book for my 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge this year. I hope you enjoy it. Have a wonderful week.
thathappyreader
Thanks Katie! I hope that we both enjoy it!

I’m relieved to hear that you’re all okay! That must’ve been so scary and I’m sorry about the new car. I hope that it’ll be a smooth and easy process to fix. I’m surprised Angela’s still in the house too. She’s been doing a good job laying low, but who knows what this next week will have in store haha. Have a great week Jodie!

Thank you Winnie. I hope you have a great week too.
Aj @ Read All The Things!
