My Week:
My thoughts and prayers are with those effected by Hurricane Helene. It’s hard enough to watch the TV coverage let alone live through this. May you all be safe.
The weather can’t make up its mind on what to do. We’ve had substantial rain on some days and then a few days of warmer, sunnier weather. Some of the trees in the neighbourhood are losing their leaves in the windstorms making for our walks around a little more slippery. This was the cue for me to do a little fall decorating. It’s amazing how a little seasonal decoration can make things more cozy.
We are preparing for our short getaway next week. The weather is going to be very hot so I must think summer again and not fall. We’re really looking forward to getting away for a few days and spending some time in our happy place.
Books I’ve Added to My Shelves This Week:
From Publishers, Netgalley, Edelweiss+ & Libro.fm: None. I have 6 requests outstanding.
From The Library:
What I’m Watching:
This week we watched Gifted which stars Chris Evans, Mckenna Grace, and Octavia Spencer. It’s the story of a seven-year-old intellectually gifted girl who becomes the subject of a custody battle between her maternal uncle and maternal grandmother. It was an excellent film and McKenna Grace gives a standout performance. It’s available on Netflix and Disney+.

The Sunday Post # 124
That’s a wrap on The Sunday Post #123. How was your week?
I wish you a wonderful week ahead!
Tina
I love the cover of The Holiday Cottage! Will look into that one just based on the cover – haha. I was stuck in from the hurricane so I managed to finish two books which I will post about next week. We have power so I am not complaining!

I’m glad to hear you made it safely through Tina.
Jonetta | Blue Mood Café
Thanks for the info on Gifted as I want to watch that. Have a great reading week, Jodie💜

You too Jonetta!
Cindy's Book Corner
The Gifted sounds great! I am devastated by the Hurricane damage in NC and TN, I have family in both states (they are all good), and I have lived in both states. My husband’s uncle’s town is pretty much wiped out, and they are stuck at the top of the mountain for who knows how long. It’s crazy! I hope you have a great week!
thathappyreader
Oh no Cindy! It’s devastating to see the damage on TV never mind live through it.
Emily @ Budget Tales Book Blog
I hope that the weather is kind to you. It has been up and down here, but where I am in the South East UK we really only get flooding and the lart of the village where I live we just about escape it, usually.
A good looking haul of books. I’ve got the Sarah Morgan one from Netgalley although it is called The Christmas Cottage. I don’t understand why they changed the titles for different countries – so confusing!
Have a good weekend.

I think it’s interesting why the title changes between regions too Emily.
Deb Nance at Readerbuzz
I have just added The Holiday Cottage to my list at my library. I hope to read that one when I get closer to the holiday season.
Hurricane Helene was an awful hurricane. We had a small one hit us in July, and the fence behind us still have not be replaced. I can’t imagine with Helene.

Apparently the only hurricane we’ve had here in Vancouver was the year I was born – 1962. I can only imagine the devastation of hurricane damage from what I see on TV.
Katie @Just Another Girl and Her Books
The Holiday Cottage looks good. I hope you enjoy your new books and have a great weekend.

Thank you and you too Katie!

You too Lisa!

McKenna Grace reminds me of Dakota and Elle Fanning in that there is nothing that girl can’t do. I most recently saw her in Handmaid’s Tale and A Friend of the Family. Such a talented actress.
thathappyreader
She really is!
Nicci
I really enjoyed Gifted! I do love Chris Evans… Purely for his acting, of course. 👀
Hope you have a good week!
thathappyreader
Of course Nicci 🤣
rolé @ hooked by that book
Here the leaves are changing fast, but the days are so sunny and gorgeous. The hurricane is just awful. Hope you have a great week.

You too Role!
Anne - Books of My Heart
I hope you have a great trip whatever the weather. The predictions have been rather unreliable of late. I want to get some yard stuff finished but it’s either too hot or raining.

Thank you Anne!
JoAnn @ Gulfside Musing
We are still in CT, but very thankful our home in FL was not damaged or flooded during Helene. After a stressful week, a cozy holiday read sounds perfect!
thathappyreader
I’m sorry you’ve had a stressful week JoAnn but glad your home was spared.
Her Digital Coffee
I hope you have a nice and relaxing trip! It sounds lovely to be able to enjoy the warmer weather for a while longer. It was snowing in Calgary for an hour yesterday haha. Have a great week Jodie!

Way too early for snow, right Winnie?
