My Week:
It’s been a satisfying week for me. I’ve spent my afternoons decluttering – in particular getting rid of things we haven’t used for a while and likely will never use again. I’ve got several boxes that will be picked up by a local charity next week and it feels so good to be more organized. There are a couple more areas I need to declutter and will take these on over the next couple of weeks.
We had a few dozen trick or treaters on Halloween night but not anything like the numbers we had when we first moved into the house thirty years ago. October 31 also began the Diwali week for the Indo-Canadians in my community. Happy Diwali to those that celebrate!
We haven’t had our first frost yet but we are close with temperatures dipping to near freezing temperatures on some nights. We are finishing up preparing the garden for winter so we can cross that off our list soon. I finally feel like we’re catching up from the time we were recovering from our illness in October.
My lovely sister surprised me with a “just because” gift this week. What a thoughtful gesture – I absolutely love it.
Books I’ve Added to My Shelves This Week:
From Publishers, Netgalley, Edelweiss+ & Libro.fm:
None. I have 2 outstanding requests.
From The Library:
Amazon First Reads (Free):
What I’m Watching:
The new comedy series St. Denis Medical premieres on November 12, and the promos have definitely caught my attention. Described as a blend of The Office and ER and starring one of my favourite comedic actors, Wendy McLendon-Covey, this NBC show promises to be both light-hearted and entertaining.

Oh what a cute gift, Jodie. I love it. We only had five trick-or-treaters. But my grandkids came over and just finished off the candy, lol! Have a fantastic weekend, Jodie!

You too Jody!
Tina

Joy Weese Moll
I want to get in a bit of decluttering before the holidays. That can be so satisfying!
That pillow is such a thoughtful gift.
thathappyreader
It is so satisfying! It is so thoughtful Joy.
Claudia
That book fits right in with my decluttering failures. Nobody’s Perfect. I have the biggest stack of stuff to be filed! It’s going to get done. Soon!
thathappyreader
That’s the spirit Claudia!
Deb Nance at Readerbuzz
What a great gift from your sister! And it’s just for you.
I like the sound of Nobody’s Perfect. Everyone seems to be trying to declutter right now.
thathappyreader
I think it’s a great time to declutter Deb – before getting ready for the holidays.
Erin @ Cracker Crumb Life
Aw what a nice gift! How fun!!
I spent the last two days decluttering as well!
thathappyreader
That’s great Erin. ‘Tis the season to declutter!
Carla
Our subdivision has too many trick-or-treaters (several hundred) so I stopped participating. I just don’t have the cash for that.
The pillow is adorable! What a sweet gift.
I’m loving all the Christmas reads you’re doing. I’ve been thinking about signing up for an all-year-round Christmas-themed book haul from Harlequin. I just love it that much.
thathappyreader
That sounds amazing Carla! I could certainly read Christmas-themed books all year round.
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
That pillow is so cool! What an awesome gift! Glad you had a good week. I need to keep doing some decluttering in my house too. I did finally get the 6 or so bags of books taken to Half Price books. Only got about $40, but still, better than having them just sitting around. Still hard to get rid of other books though! Hope you have a good week!

Good for you Lisa!
Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
Sisters are great. What a lovely surprise. Yes, our number of trick or treaters has dwindled over the years. Loving the holiday books in your haul.

Thank you Kimberly!
Anne - Books of My Heart
It’s wonderful that you are getting the decluttering things done and feel more on track. I need to fit that in but there is always some other thing, although I try to do a bit most days with pickup / cleanup. But I definitely need to have some time for deeper cleaning and de-cluttering.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post

It is hard to find the time for that deeper cleaning and decluttering Anne.
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog

Oh my goodness, that is such a sweet gift! I’m glad to hear that you’re feeling better and that you were able to do some decluttering. It’s always such a nice feeling afterwards! Have a great week Jodie!
Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
I hadn’t heard of St. Denis Medical, but it does sound really fun – I’ll have to check it out! We don’t get nearly as many trick-or-treaters as we used to either. I always love seeing the kids in their costumes, so I miss having more.
thathappyreader
I hope that we both enjoy St. Denis Medical Nicole.
Rolé @ Hooked by That Book
We also had a good number of kids on Halloween, not too much. It feels like I’m always busy with cleaning out one closet or another. It’s never-ending.
thathappyreader
It is never-ending Rolé.
Olivia
Your sister’s gift is amazing!
thathappyreader
It is!
Carla@CarlaLovesToRead
I love that pillow, Jodie. What a sweet sister you have. I will do some more decluttering when I get home. My son and I are going to finally take apart the train room, which was my husband’s hobby, but he has been gone 8 years, so it is time. We have been watching Matlock and Shrinking. Both are really good. I hope you have has a wonderful week.

Thank you Carla.
