My Week:
We’ve had our third atmospheric river and wind storm in a week here in Vancouver and now there is a risk of some flooding in some of the lower lying areas in the province. You may recall that in mid-October we were in a drought with little rain in 10 weeks. We lost our power Friday evening with a freak wind gust which blew the transformer in our area. Luckily power was restored a couple of hours later.
It’s been a relatively quiet week. Now that we a past Halloween, I’m starting to think more about Christmas preparation and getting organized for that. We normally put the tree up and decorate the house during last week of November and I can’t wait to get started on that.
What I Read This Week:

What I’m Watching:
I really enjoy Christmas movies and The Santa Clause is one of my favourites. Disney+ has produced The Santa Clauses, a 4-part series based on the original movie with Santa now a 65 year old ready to retire.

It looks like you have lots of cozy festive reads on your list! I can’t wait to jump into some holiday books after my current reads are finished. ❄️
thathappyreader
I hope that you enjoy your holiday books!
Ibti
So much festive spirit in this post, I love it! I haven’t read any Christmas novels in years and I like the sound of some of the titles you shared so I am tempted to get a couple to indulge in by the fireplace !
thathappyreader
Thank you for reading! I hope you find a great holiday title to cozy up with!
Cindy Davis
All the covers of your books are lovely. I didn’t realize Lauren Graham had another book out. I was a bit disappointed with Talking as Fast as I Can, but will be curious to read this one as well. Have a great week!

I’m listening to her newest audiobook now and she’s one of the few narrators where I have to slow down the narration speed from 1.5x to 1.2x in order to catch it all! I’m enjoying it so far but look for my final review in the next few weeks.
Fransic verso
This is amazing you have everything organized and these are great recommendations. Haven’t watched that but is a good time for it. Christmas movies and TV shows start now.
thathappyreader
Thanks for reading Fransic! I hope you can find some Christmas movies and TV shows to watch soon.
Jennifer | Book Den
I’ve started putting my tree up before Thanksgiving so we can enjoy it through that holidays as well. I’ll probably do that again this year. 🙂
thathappyreader
I would likely do the same if our Thanksgiving was in November (ours is in October). Thanks for reading Jennifer!
Harvee
Just cringe to hear about winter weather coming.
thathappyreader
I hear you Harvee! I am so much more a Spring and Summer person. Thanks for reading!
Anne - Books of My Heart
So many holiday reads! I am waiting until Nov 18 for the HoHoHo Readathon, otherwise I’d wait until December.
Anne – Books of My Heart

I really enjoy holiday books Anne and love to read as many as I can each year. I hope you enjoy the Readathon.
Caroline
I’ve read one Christmas book so far this year, but I can’t wait to read more and get the house decorated! Love the sound of that Christmas film too x
thathappyreader
Thanks for reading Caroline!
Emma T
I love the festive books, I’m already into mine and looks like you’ve got some to come.
thathappyreader
I have several Emma! Thanks for reading.
Anne@HeadFullofBooks
I am always impressed when someone actually reads Christmas novels before, in preparation for Christmas! Good for you.
thathappyreader
Thanks Anne! They bring me a lot of joy!
MarthaE
I hope your weather settles down. My staff is pushing to decorate before Thanksgiving this year. We’ll see.
These look like nice, cheery books. I can use some of those.
Have a good week and Happy Reading!
thathappyreader
Thanks for reading MarthaE! We can all use cheery books at any time of the year.
Wendy Williams
When it rains, it pours! I’m glad you got the moisture you need, but, I hope you don’t get too much. I like the sound of that Lauren Graham book, I’ll be looking forward to your review for that one.
thathappyreader
Thanks Wendy! I think you’d enjoy Lauren Graham’s book!
Aj @ Read All The Things!
I hope your weather calms down! I’m very excited for Christmas. I’d put the decorations up right now, but we haven’t taken the Halloween ones down yet. 🙂
thathappyreader
Hooray! A kindred spirit who gets excited for Christmas! Thanks for reading.
Deb Nance at Readerbuzz
I’m a huge Gilmore Girls fan, so thanks for sharing the Lauren Graham audiobook. I will look for it.
Thanksgiving and Christmas can’t come fast enough. Finally a year when we can all get together and celebrate.
I’m sorry your weather has been so disturbing.
thathappyreader
Thanks Deb! I agree with you about the holidays!
GWT
I’m intrigued; what’s an atmospheric river? You know, I’ve only ever considered pitting up decorations on December but the end of November is just as good. That way it’s out of the way.
thathappyreader
Thanks for reading GWT. An atmospheric river is a meteorological term which describes a long and narrow stream of high water vapour that moves moisture from tropical regions towards the poles. When we are in one we experience large amounts of rain (upwards of 100mm) during the event which typically seem to last about 36 hours.
