My Week:
We got a bit of snow this week that didn’t last long. While we didn’t have to go out in it, many around me said for a few hours the roads were some of the worst they have ever driven in. Once again I am thankful for retirement. The hummingbird feeder heater that I spoke of last week worked fantastic in keeping the feeder’s solution completely thawed even at -8C (17F). In case you’re wondering, this is what it looks like. The red part in the photo is the heater which attaches to your existing feeder. It uses a 15W bulb. When I look at it, it reminds me of my Easy Bake oven growing up which baked little cakes using a light bulb.

What I’m Watching:
I watched True Spirit last night and really enjoyed it. True Spirit is a 2023 Australian biopic film based on the true story of Jessica Watson, an Australian sailor who was awarded the Order of Australia Medal after attempting to circumnavigate solo at the age of 16.

Oh that is cool! I didn’t even know they made heaters for your hummingbird feeders. Where we live we take them in and don’t put them back out till late spring so they don’t freeze and crack.
Have a great week and happy reading!

Our hummingbird feeders are glass and we don’t have a problem. Vancouver has mild winters compared to the rest of Canada and we have some hummingbird species that remain year long while others migrate for the winter. Thanks for reading.
Raji
True Spirit sounds interesting, I’ll have to check it out! Thanks for sharing!

I really appreciate being retired on these horribly cold days, too.
Both books you read last week look good. I’ve been especially curious about The Banned Bookshop of Maggie Banks.

Thanks for reading Deb! I’ll be posting my review of Maggie Banks later this week.
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
I never thought of a hummingbird feeder heater because I thought they migrated! That’s cool! I sure hope we get some snow in February. I really like a good snow or two in winter. Otherwise the cold seems like a waste of time, other than not sweating all the time, lol. The Banned Bookshop and Right Girl Wrong Side are both on my TBR. Hope you have a good week!

Thanks Lisa! Some species here in Vancouver migrate, others do not. I’m not sure about where you live. Have a great week!
Cindy Davis
