My Week:
We actually got some rain this week! It was only for about thirty-six hours but it was the most rain we’ve had in one day since January. Unfortunately this was not enough to prevent us from going to the next stage of water restrictions which start Friday. There are hundreds of forest fires burning in my province and we are thankful for the numbers of international fire fighters that are here to help with the fight.
The rest of the week has been seasonably warm with comfortable temperatures. Sunday we went to a farmer’s market and I really enjoyed looking at all the vendors stalls. There’s nothing quite like freshly picked produce. We’ve been eating fresh lettuce, tomatoes and onions from our own garden. My sweet pea flowers are abundant and I’m picking a large bouquet every day now. Mom had her sutures out on Monday and the wound is healing but will need a bit more time. I’ve had lots of time to read on the patio, and to walk. I love summer!

What I’m Watching:
We have recently discovered the reality show called Alone which shows how ten individuals survive, completely alone, in some of the harshest conditions in the world to see who can be the last one standing and win the $500000 prize. We have binge watched two seasons already this past week and we look forward to watching a few episodes every evening. This show may not be for everyone and I turn my head when the wildlife killed is being cleaned so be aware of this. The contestants survival skills fill me with amazement. Here’s a trailer for the current season being shown on Netflix:

I would have thought thirty-six hours of rain would have recharged it. Just saw Canadian firefighters struggling on the news. Stay safe!

Greg
There really is nothing like fresh produce! You can really taste a difference.
Songbirds has such a nice summer cover. Reminds me of rafts up in the lake during summertime growing up.

I agree with you Greg! Thanks for reading!
Anne - Books of My Heart
It’s great that you got some rain and are enjoying your summer. I’m jealous of your fresh lettuce. It’s a favorite of ours but only seems to thrive in the spring and fall. July and August are too hot. But the tomatoes, beans, basil and now squash seem to love the heat.

Lettuce is the same here Anne. In bolts in the hottest summer weather but we hope to eat a fresh crop in the fall. We’re growing squash too!
Sophia Rose
Glad you got all that rain to help a bit with the fires and air quality. Rough summer for you. I’ve enjoyed a few episodes of alone, too.

Our garden was going strong in April and May, but it’s petering out now. Enjoy all your fresh veggies.
Through the Snow Globe looks like fun. And the setting looks delightfully cool.

Thank you Deb!

I’m glad you got some rain, Jodie, but yes, I hope you get more. I have been following the forest fires and they are terrible. Your mom must feel so much better getting her sutures out. I wish her a continued recovery. I hope you had a great week, as I am reading this a week late.
