Welcome to The Sunday Post #66! The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme. I will also be joining Deb at Readerbuzz for the Sunday Salon.
My Week:
Above seasonal temperatures and dry weather has returned to Vancouver. The forest fire situation remains severe in the province and this year has been declared the third worse season for the loss of forests. A second young person fighting the fires has lost their life in our fires. A number of people have lost their homes already to the fires. My thoughts and prayers are for all who grieve for the loss of their loved ones or homes.
It’s been a quiet week once again. I’ve been spending my afternoons on the patio reading and working on the blog. I’m trying to finalize my list of Christmas reads for a challenge starting September 1 but there are always so many I want to read. It may seem a little early to start reading Christmas books for some, but September and October are when the vast majority of new holiday books publish. I don’t request a book from Netgalley or Edelweiss unless I know I’ll be able to post a review by the books publication date. The exception to this is when I accept a book from Libro.fm via their influencer program which often offers books that are already published.
What I Read This Week:
This Week I Hope to Read:
What I’m Watching:
We recently watched and very much enjoyed “Champions” on Prime. The story is about a former minor-league basketball coach (Woody Harrelson) who is ordered by the court to coach a team of players with intellectual disabilities. Here’s the trailer:

That’s a wrap on The Sunday Post #66. I wish you a wonderful week ahead!
Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out
It’s just way too early for me to think of Christmas yet 🙂
I’m sorry to hear of the continuing wildfires, I’m dreading summer for that reason.
Wishing you a happy reading week

Thanks for reading Shelleyrae!
Anne - Books of My Heart
I always try to post a review by publications date but with audio it is harder because you may not get it until release date. Or the lead time is much shorter. I try not to take many Christmas books because I don’t want to read them until after Thanksgiving. I am interested in both the books you are reading this week but don’t think I will get to them anytime soon.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post

I hope that you enjoy them Anne when you decide you’re ready to read them!
Diana @ Book of Secrets
Champions looks like a good movie. Thanks for sharing! I’m so ready for a cool, rainy fall, though summer here (Kansas) hasn’t been too bad. My mom reads Christmas books all year long. She’s always excited when the new ones start coming out in the fall. Have a wonderful week! — Diana

Thanks for reading Diana! I could honestly read Christmas all year round (sporadically) too!
Terrie @ Bookshelf Journeys
Even though I love Christmas, I can’t read a steady diet of holiday stories…..they seem too formulaic, kind of like the Hallmark channel holiday movies. But I have to say, they do evoke the holiday spirit and make me feel good. 🙂
Have a terrific week.

Thanks Terrie. Oh no, I can’t read them continuously either!
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
I love Christmas reads, but I’m not in the mood till maybe October, even though they do start coming out before then. I do want to read Kissing Kosher and Through the Snowglobe. I loved the movie Champions, it was so good! Hope you have a good week!

Thanks Lisa! No I will only be reading a few until after October. Just the ones that publish before that date.
JamieAdStories
Glad you had mild weather. That looks like a good show – Champions. Any time can be Christmas haha.

Thanks for reading Jamie!
Carla
The wildfires are terrible and my heart breaks for the many who have lost a loved one or their homes. My daughter is in Nova Scotia and they are getting the rain you guys need. A friend of mine told me about Champions and I really want to watch it. Are you talking about the 20 Books of Christmas Challenge? I also participate in that one and enjoy it. I have to sort mine out as well. Have a wonderful week, Jodie.
thathappyreader
Thanks Carla. No I host my own Christmas challenge because I want one that covers the books that I read prior to their September publication. Look for my post on August 18!
JoAnn @ Gulfside Musing
I’ve already got a couple of books set aside for the Christmas season, but I doubt I’ll read them until December. A holiday reading challenge sounds like fun though. Have a good week!
thathappyreader
Thank you JoAnn!
Greg
I’m not a huge seasonal reader but when fall hits I do often get in the mood for christmasy or holiday type reads. Usually mysteries but not always.
thathappyreader
I do enjoy a cozy mystery too! Have a great week Greg!
Deb Nance at Readerbuzz
I will definitely take a look at Champions. I’m always on the lookout for movies with a sports theme where I can connect with my sons.
I like to look ahead and plan out my reading, too. Good luck with yours!
thathappyreader
Thank you so much Deb! I hope your family enjoys Champions!
Erin @ Cracker Crumb Life
Champions sounds interesting!!
And that is awful about the forest fires, and so tragic about all of the loss. 🙁
thathappyreader
It really is Erin. Thank you for reading.
Literary Feline
I am so sorry for all the damage and lives lost in the forest fires. It’s just so awful. I love how organized you are when it comes to your reading and blogging. I have been neglecting both my reading and blog for far too long as of late. Too many distractions and life itself getting in the way. I hope you enjoy your reading this week and have a great one!

Thank you! I hope you have a great week as well!
