My Week:
We have had a bit of a reprieve from the hot temperatures and some rain in the areas that were needed most in the battle against wildfires in our province. Hundreds of people have lost their homes however and many more are currently still evacuated. This wildfire season has been deemed the worst in our history – my thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost their homes.
We did a bit of planning for our September vacation but otherwise the week has been quiet. We had a wonderful afternoon out with my sister and brother- in- law on Friday. I’ve enjoyed the cooler weather when out for my daily walks earlier in the week. This weekend, however, the heat has returned for a few days. One day soon we will start to feel the cooler weather of Fall – a transition that seems to happen quickly here in Vancouver.
What I Read This Week:
This Week I Hope To Read:
What I’m Watching:
I’m a big fan of the show When Calls The Heart which is filmed here in the Vancouver area. I have watched up to and including Season 6 but then chose not to pay the $20 a month for the channel. The W network here in Canada is one I subscribe to and they are about to broadcast Season 7 of the show. It starts Labour Day weekend and I can’t wait! Any other Hearties out there?

JK Joy (aka) Jody
We have been praying for all those affected by the wildfires, it is just horrific. The wether has been terrible here as well, the humidity is what I can’t handle. I hope you have a good week, Jodie

Thank you Jody. I hope your weather improves very soon.
Deb Nance at Readerbuzz
I am looking forward to the first cool fronts of fall pushing down from the north. So I hope you get some of that lovely cool weather in Vancouver soon. I’m sorry there has been so much destruction from the forest fires.
I’ve read a couple of reviews of Tom Lake from other bloggers in the past couple of weeks, and now I’m eager to read it.

Thank you Deb! I highly recommend choosing the audiobook version as Meryl Streep’s narration elevated the book for me. Have a wonderful week ahead!
Anne@HeadFullofBooks
Tom Lake is on my reading list. I hope to listen to the audiobook since it is narrated, I understand, by Meryl Streep. Have a lovely week.

It is Anne and I thoroughly enjoyed her narration! Thanks for reading!
Anne - Books of My Heart
Vancouver is beautiful. I’m glad the weather is improving. Both in Minnesota and now that I live in North Carolina, the shift seems to happen quickly. I can’t wait. We haven’t really been more hot this year than others but July – August are always uncomfortable. Since getting out with the dogs around noon each day, I’m actually surprised it is not hotter. It doesn’t really heat up most days until midafternoon and it depends more on humidity whether it is comfortable or not.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post

I’ve been a fan of When Calls The Heart for many years and have never missed an episode. We’ve had high temps and humidity where I live all summer and I want it to cool down already!
I’m going to start Tom Lake soon and am so excited. I’ve been a fan of Meryl Streep for many years!

Glad you haven’t had the issues that unfortunately so many others have with these fires. We have had the horrible heat here this past week. Looking for a cooler (ha! Still in the 80s) week coming up. I hope you enjoy Maybe Once Maybe Twice, I’ll be looking to see if you do, it sounds good! Have a great week!

I’ve been watching the wildfires and their devastation with horror on the News – it’s like something from a dystopian sci fi series… I’m so sorry for those who have lost everything and I hope the weather continues to be wet and less windy so the authorities can get on top of them. Glad you’re planning your holiday – I think that part of it is important as it’s all part of the fun. Have a great fun:)).

Thank you! It really is horrific.
Carla
I’m glad you got rain, Jodie. I know how devastating the fires have been. I have never watched When Calls the Heart, but I just found it on Plex, it will have ads but I am going to give it a try. I’m waiting for September 1st, then will read/listen to Bright Lights. Have a great week!

I hope you’re having a great week too Carla!
Aj @ Read All The Things!
