My Week:
This is my first The Sunday Post since before Christmas so let me catch you up on the last 3 weeks. My brother remains in hospital. He has now spent nearly 7 weeks in hospital. The infection remains and he is awaiting a test to determine if the antibiotic he is presently on is effective in clearing up this infection or whether or not it needs to be changed. Either way he requires an additional 6 weeks of IV antibiotics. He is starting to ambulate short distances with assistance but has lost a lot of muscle mass and weight during his illness. There is no tentative discharge date for him. I continue to spend many hours each day assisting him and trying to keep him fed and as comfortable as possible.
My Dad had surgery to remove his lip cancer on December 22 and this has impacted his ability to open his mouth fully. We’re hoping that once this area is healed and the sutures are removed that this will improve. His overall health due to another cancer is deteriorating and we are waiting for treatment to hopefully arrest or improve this.
It goes without saying that my family’s Christmas was challenging and we started 2024 with trepidation. Having said that, I hope your Christmas was a joyous one and that 2024 will be a Happy and Healthy one for you and your family.
What I’m Watching:
I love to watch movies set in places I have visited so I’m looking forward to watching “Love On The Right Course” this weekend. It’s set in Budapest and is on the Hallmark Channel in the US or the W Network in Canada.

I know my family has been hoping 2024 will be better for us health-wise, and I wish the same for you and your family! I know it’s nice to be able to go spend time when you can, even if it is stressful and emotional. I don’t normally watch Hallmark movies, but I’ve seen this one around and might give it a try! Have a good week!

Oh Jodie, I am so sorry! We are in a season of hardships as well, my mom begins radiation for a rare cancer in the next few weeks, my husband’s mother just had knee replacement surgery and isn’t doing great (and we live hours from both of them), and that’s just the tip of things going on. I empathize and sympathize and hope better things are on the horizon for your dad and brother. Sending virtual hugs and prayers.

Thank you Cindy! I hope that your family is feeling stronger and more healthy soon.

I hope your brother starts to improve soon. What a long time to have to struggle with an infection! Hopefully the doctors can find an antibiotic that will wipe out the infection. And I hope your dad’s recovery goes well from the surgery. I really hate cancer. This must be so difficult for your family right now. My thoughts are with you all, Jodie.
thathappyreader
Thank you so much for your kind thoughts.
Anne - Books of My Heart
I hope things improve sooner than later. I know it can be difficult to deal with all the doctors and medical issues. They are complex and we are often in the position of being less knowledgeable so we don’t know if the doctor is correct or not. And even for the doctor, using their best efforts, doesn’t know everything. Wishing you some comforting and relaxing reading!
thathappyreader
Thank you for you kind thoughts Anne.
Amanda Kay
Continuing to send healing thoughts to your family, Jodie. I hope that things improve for both your brother and father very soon!
