My Week:
Winter has arrived with a vengeance this week here in Vancouver. Our below average cold front went into the early part of the week and then we experienced a dump of a foot of snow on Tuesday night into Wednesday. Unlike many parts of Canada, Vancouver does not usually receive a lot of snow so this event closed schools in the area for a couple of days. As I write this Saturday morning it has warmed up and the snow is quickly melting.
My brother was transferred to another hospital in the area and had back surgery on Tuesday. He is much more comfortable now and has started mobilizing more. He is challenged with eating right now however and often finds it uncomfortable to eat. His surgeon is not wanting to get involved with this problem and suggests it’s looked into once he is transferred back to the hospital closer to home. My Dad had his appointment with the oncologist and is being offered some treatment. He has long road ahead of him with multiple appointments with various specialists but we are hopeful that this treatment will pay off for the future.
What I’m Watching:
Nicole Kidman is starring in a new series on Prime Video beginning January 26. “Expats” is based on the novel “Expatriates” by Janice Y.K. Lee. It’s the story of three American women living abroad in Hong Kong struggling with very different and fraught personal lives. Here’s the trailer:

Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
Glad your brother’s surgery went well! My stepdad has finally been eating better, which makes all of us feel better, because him not eating wasn’t great for him to actually get strength back and feel better. Hope the treatment your dad’s oncologist comes up with is successful. Have a good week!
