My Week:
The storms have finally passed—for now—and the forecast for the coming week promises drier, sunnier days. A welcome change, though Environment Canada has mentioned that we on the west coast of Canada should brace for a snowier winter than usual. Since we typically don’t see much snow here, I can’t help but hope that this long-range forecast proves to be off the mark!
This week, I had the chance to enjoy lunch with my group of retired former co-workers. It was such a treat to catch up, especially since most of us hadn’t seen each other since May. The rest of the week was filled with Christmas shopping and decorating the house. I just love how the decorations make everything feel so warm and cosy—perfect for brightening up those long, dark nights.
We also booked our flights for our April trip after waiting for a price drop through Google Flights. I always go for refundable fares—because, let’s face it, life happens. The prices have been dropping daily for the past three days, and I’ve been repricing our original flights each time. It’s been a bit of a game! Does anyone else rely on Google Flights for tracking prices?
Books I’ve Added to My Shelves This Week:
From Publishers, Netgalley, Edelweiss+ & Libro.fm: None
From The Library:
With Christmas just three weeks away, Lucy Gable is far from festive as she juggles her role as assistant to bestselling romance author Brynn Dixon, who’s battling burnout. To ease Brynn’s stress, Lucy has secretly finished writing her latest book and planned a low-key holiday book tour, including a stop at a charming Christmas tree farm. But the tour quickly unravels: the farm’s owner is a reluctant host, Brynn’s fans are obsessed with Lucy’s changes to the book, and Brynn’s handsome, secret son adds an unexpected complication. As a winter storm traps them at the farm, Lucy finds herself caught up in snowy sleigh rides, caroling, and the promise of new love, while Brynn begins to imagine her own fresh start. Together, they discover that with a little courage, this holiday might just deliver the perfect happily-ever-after—and a magical white Christmas.
What I’m Watching:
Forrest Gump is one of my favourite movies and I was excited to learn this week that Forrest Gump 2 is premiering in 2025! Once again Tom Hanks stars in the film along with Timothée Chalamet and the trailer promises a great sequel.

I can’t wait for Forest Gump 2, Jodie. I like the sound of Springer’s book. It looks like a fun read. Happy Saturday

Happy Saturday Jody!
Carla@CarlaLovesToRead
I’m glad the weather has settled down somewhat for you, Jodie. We had our first snow yesterday but not too bad. There were a few accidents as usual as it was a bit slippery. It has been gray and dreary here again. I will have to watch for that Forest Gump movie, I do love Tom Hanks. I hope you love Christmas at Sprucewood Farms. Have a wonderful week ahead.

Thank you Carla!
Carla
I hope they are wrong about the snow for you. I’m looking out my window at some now. It’s nice that you still get together with your retired colleagues. Christmas at Spruce Hill Farm is an excellent read.

Thank you Carla!
Tina
I didn’t know there was a new movie coming out with Tom Hanls. That’s another thing I love about the blogs I visit, people keep me updated on the latest movies and tv shows!
Great job on refundable plane rickets. We always do that because, as you said, life happens and you just never know.

Exactly Tina.
Anne - Books of My Heart
yes I hope it won’t be overly snowy here either. We usually only get 2 days a year if that. Winter temps are usually 50s / 10C days and 30s/ 0C at night it melts quickly when it does snow. It’s usually in January or February but we have had snow if December once in the 9 years I have live in NC. Great you could get together with old co-workers / friends. We don’t shop much for Christmas or birthdays because when we want something we buy it or get it when it is on sale.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post

We are definitely ones to buy on sale too Anne!
Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out
I didn’t even know Forest Gump 2 was in the works, that’s definitely on my watchlist!
Wishing you a happy reading week

Thanks Shelleyrae!
Deb Nance at Readerbuzz
I didn’t realize that a Forrest Gump 2 was coming out next year. I do like Tom Hanks.
I do hope the weather predictions are off for your area. But somebody must be getting all our cold—we’ve barely had any fall at all!

Thanks Deb!
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
I’m so excited for Forrest Gump 2!!! We got our first snow on Saturday. I’ve always used Kayak for flights or hotels, but might start using Google Flights. I found out today my mom already bought my ticket for the trip in July, so I guess I can cancel watching for a good price now, lol. Hope you have a good week!

I have alerts set for both Kayak and Google Flights and Kayak is not alerting me the same as Google Flights is. If you’re Mom’s flight is refundable I would still price watch as prices vary tremendously.
Nas
I’m looking forward to the new movie.
Happy December!
Claudia
Thanks for the heads up on Google Flights, as well as the new Forrest Gump movie. Maybe I’ll do both!!

It sounds like you had a wonderful week! It must’ve been so nice to catch up with your former co-workers. I’m looking forward to finally decorating for Christmas. I don’t have any trips planned yet, but I’m definitely going to look into using Google Flights. Every bit helps! Have a great week Jodie!
