My Week:
It’s been a lovely week here. The weather has been dry and cool, with temperatures slightly below normal, hovering around freezing. The clear or partially cloudy skies have made for stunning sunrises and sunsets. The forecast for the next five days looks equally beautiful, and I’d gladly take this weather for the rest of winter—especially when much of Canada and the U.S. are dealing with snow. I’ve been walking over two hours a day and really appreciate being able to get outside for it.
This week, I had a couple of appointments and spent some quality time with my parents, sister, and brother-in-law. We enjoyed lunch together and some fun at the casino. I truly treasure these moments and never take them for granted.
Books I’ve Added to My Shelves This Week:
From Publishers, Netgalley, Edelweiss+ & Libro.fm:
In Dogged Pursuit, David Rosenfelt takes readers back to the beginning of the beloved Andy Carpenter series, where Andy starts his career as a defence attorney in Paterson, New Jersey. After three years as a prosecutor, Andy leaves to open his own practice, determined to help the underdog. While adopting a golden retriever named Tara from a shelter, Andy learns that her kennel mate, Sunny, is tied to a criminal case involving Sunny’s owner, Frank Tierney, who’s been accused of murder. Andy feels an instant connection with both dogs and a sense of responsibility for Frank, leading him to take on his first case. This prequel offers a heartwarming origin story for fans and serves as an excellent introduction for new readers.
From The Library:
When Kyle McCray returns to Potsdam, New York, after his father’s debilitating stroke, he’s met with hostility from those he abandoned two and a half years earlier, including his wife, Casey, a beloved teacher. Intending to lie low and leave again, Kyle gradually confronts the pain his sudden departure caused. When he’s offered a chance to coach the struggling middle school hockey team, he begins to rediscover purpose and connection, even considering staying in town—if he and Casey can reconcile their past. What Happened to the McCrays? is a heartfelt story of love, hope, and the journey toward healing after a failed marriage.
From Audible: None.
What I’m Watching:
Watson premieres on Global TV and CBS on January 26 and I’m looking forward to watching the first episode. It stars Tommy O’Brien, Eve Harlow and Morris Chestnut. The networks note that a year after losing his friend and partner Sherlock Holmes, Dr. John Watson returns to practising medicine at a clinic specializing in rare diseases. But it isn’t long before the shadows of his past life begin to resurface. Here’s the trailer:

January Wrap-Up
The Weekend Post #141
That’s a wrap on The Weekend Post #140. How was your week?
I wish you a wonderful week ahead!
Harvee
I’m still recovering form the first weeks in January and the two family deaths we had, plus funerals and guests staying over. Lovely to see family again, but would have preferred happier circumstances.
Enjoy your balmy weather with no snow. We have a bit of it.
thathappyreader
I’m sorry you’re having such a hard January Harvee. Take care.
Jody
I can’t wait to watch this tomorrow night. I have always loved him as an actor. We still have snow on the ground, but this week is supposed to be warmer with sunshine and no snow. That will be a nice change for us. Have a wonderful weekend, Jodie.

You too Jody!
Jonetta | Blue Mood Café
I hope you love The McCrays, Jodie. Looking forward to seeing what you think of Watson, too. We will be watching the second season of The Night Agent.
Have a great weekend!

The Tracy Lang book is one I would like and Goodreads is having a giveaway. I never win but I always enter!
That’s great walking time you are getting in!
thathappyreader
Thanks Tina! Good luck on the giveaway.
Greg
Glad you had a good week! We’re one of those areas that had snow lol so I’m glad your weather was a little nicer! I wasn’t aware of Watson but that looks like fun.
thathappyreader
Strange weather patterns these days for sure Greg.
Deb Nance at Readerbuzz
Dogged Pursuit looks great. I love stories with animals.
Apparently your Canadian snow ended up here in Texas—it was a shock to all of us.
thathappyreader
I can’t believe how many of the southern states received snow Deb!
Joy Weese Moll
I enjoyed outdoor walks yesterday and today after several weeks of snow, ice, and cold. It was great. I’m glad that walks are working for you.
thathappyreader
Thank you Joy.
Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out
I’m glad you are enjoying lovely weather. It’s just hot and humid here.
I’m hoping Watson shows up on one of streaming services so I can watch it.

We had a mostly dry week for a change, but still had the extreme colds at the beginning that got us an extra day off of school. Hope you have a good week!

What Happened to the McCrays? sounds like an intriguing read – plenty of books start with failed marriages but this one seems to be confronting head on the pain and upset such separations always cause. I’m delighted to hear that you’re having lovely weather! We’re currently being lashed by yet another named storm – I’ve lost track of who it is torrenting down on us – but at least it’s not snowing! Have a great week.
thathappyreader
Oh no Sarah! I hope the weather improves for you.
Anne - Books of My Heart
Great to have nice weather and I’m glad we are warming up to more normal winter weather. We have not had much rain this year and there’s not much in the forecast until maybe the following week. I enjoy all the Sherlock, Watson, Agatha Christie and other mysteries. I’ll have to look into Watson.

Morris Chestnut is such a good actor. I haven’t seen him in anything much recently though!
Rolé @ Hooked By That Book
The snow is not in this part of Canada. I don’t know if we’re just in for a warmer winter now or if we’re going to get a huge shock soon. Hope you have a wonderful week.
