My Week:
It’s been a quieter week for me. Aside from an appointment and some grocery shopping, I stayed home, avoiding the rainy but milder weather. Later today, we’re heading out with family for lunch and some quality time together.
The weekend forecast calls for heavy rainfall, with yet another atmospheric river moving in. By Monday, we’re expected to see around 80mm of rain—that’s over 3 inches for my American friends. While our region’s water supply isn’t at full capacity yet, hopefully, this rainfall will help get us closer.
Wishing everyone a weekend filled with moments of joy, whatever that may look like for you!
Books I’ve Added to My Shelves This Week:
From Publishers, Netgalley, Edelweiss+ & Libro.fm: None. I have one open request.
From The Library:
Aiden Valentine, the jaded host of Baltimore’s romance hotline Heartstrings, finds himself thrust into the limelight when a young girl’s call seeking dating advice for her mum goes viral. That mum, Lucie Stone, is a content single mother with a great job, a close-knit family, and a clever daughter, but suddenly finds her love life—or lack of one—under the city’s spotlight. As Aiden and Lucie navigate the media frenzy and growing public pressure for Lucie to find her happily-ever-after, unexpected sparks ignite between them. Now, Lucie must choose between the picture-perfect romance everyone expects and the imperfect, heartfelt connection forming behind the scenes.
When their close friend Noelle unexpectedly takes her own life, Tara and Emerson are left reeling, with only an unfinished letter as a clue to her shocking decision. Known as a passionate midwife and a devoted friend, Noelle seemed to embrace life, but as her friends delve deeper, they uncover hidden truths about the woman they thought they knew. Through love and betrayal, compassion and deceit, Noelle’s story intertwines with a desperate stranger, forcing Tara and Emerson to confront the heartbreaking secret that changed everything.
What I’m Watching:
We’re looking at watching You’re Cordially Invited on Prime this weekend. It’s a romantic comedy film starring Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon and surrounds the double-booking of two weddings at the same island venue on the same day. I’m not a huge fan of Will Ferrell as his movies can often get a little too slapstick for me but I’m a big Reese Witherspoon fan so we will give it a try. Have you seen it yet? Let me know your thoughts if you have.

I wish you a wonderful week ahead!

Jonetta | Blue Mood Café
I’m listening to First-Time Caller right now and am loving it. I feel the same about Will Ferrell movies, too, so I’m wary about You’re Cordially Invited. But, I’m a bigger Reese Witherspoon fan.
Have a great week, Jodie💜

First-time caller is next on my reading list so I’m glad to hear you’re loving it Jonetta.
teri
I have seen the First Time Caller book everywhere recently, I am probably going to have to check it out
thathappyreader
I hope you enjoy it if you do Teri!
Cindy Davis
That is a lot of rain! I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

First Time Caller is a fun title, and it sounds like it delivers on the premise.
thathappyreader
I hope so!
Carla@CarlaLovesToRead
I totally agree about Will Ferrell’s movies and have been wary of watching this one. If you watch it, Jodie, let us know what you think. I have been watching movies for Black History Month. I watched Rosewood and The Green Book this week. Besides that, I watched hockey. Is that a backlist book for Diane Chamberlain? Have a wonderful upcoming week.
Taylor @ Taylor Fenner’s Bookish World
First-Time Caller sounds really good! I hope you enjoy it! I’m curious about You’re Cordially Invited but I’m not a fan of Will Ferrell either so I’ll probably skip it for now.
thathappyreader
Thanks for reading Taylor!
Becki
Apparently The Midwife’s Confession has been on my TBR for a while. Can’t remember what I read to put it there in the first placed. Sounds like a good week – hope lunch and quality time went well 🙂
thathappyreader
I’m really enjoying the book Becki and already will recommend it!
Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out

Thanks AJ. You too!
Deb Nance at Readerbuzz
Oh, First Time Caller sounds delightful. I hope you enjoy it.
We always get a lot of rain here—over 50 inches a year—and it usually comes down pretty hard at this time of the year with the cold fronts running up against the warming weather from the Gulf of Mexico.
thathappyreader
Thank you Deb. We get about the same as you as far as annual rainfall.
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
Yay for getting some much needed rain! I do like Will Ferrell, so I need to watch that movie! I also need to get that Borison book from the library to listen to as well. Hope you have a good week!
thathappyreader
You too Lisa!
Anne - Books of My Heart
A quiet week is a good week. I hope the rain helps with the shortfall without flooding. We’ve been low on rain so I try not to be unhappy when it does rain. Happy reading!

Thanks Anne.
Marg @ The Intrepid Reader
I am not a huge Will Ferrell fan but I am actively looking for escape watching at the moment so maybe I will give that ago.
A friend just recommended BK Borisin so I am interested to see it on your list!
Her Digital Coffee
Wow, that’s a lot of rain but I’m glad to hear that it can help the water supply. I hope you enjoyed the family lunch. Wishing you a wonderful week Jodie!
thathappyreader
Thank you Winnie!
hena
I haven’t seen the movie and I haven’t read the book either. The movie looks a little cliqued so will probably stay away.
thathappyreader
I’m confused about what you mean by cliqued Hena?
Jill
That’s a lot of rain! Hopefully it will lead to a pretty spring.
Jill

Thanks Jill.

Thanks Rolé. It’s been beautiful this week.
