My Week:
It’s been an eventful week. The on-again, off-again tariff news has my head spinning, but Canada feels more united than ever. These are the final days of our Prime Minister’s time in office—on Sunday, the Liberal Party will elect a new leader, who will serve as Prime Minister until an election is called later this year.
The weather has been lovely and warmer for much of the week, but we’re bracing for yet another atmospheric river this weekend.
We tackled our income taxes this week, and I helped my parents with theirs as well. Definitely not my favourite task, especially since nothing ever seems to go smoothly.
On Thursday, my sister and I both had echocardiograms as part of screening for the chronic heart condition our mom was diagnosed with last year. We should get the results in the next couple of weeks.
Friday was a wonderful day out with my hubby—much needed after a busy week!
Books I’ve Added to My Shelves This Week:
From Publishers, Netgalley, Edelweiss+ & Libro.fm: None. I have two outstanding requests from this week.
From The Library: None.
What I’m Watching:
We watched A Little Bit of Heaven starring Kate Hudson and Gael Garcia Bernal this week and it had me both laughing and crying. It’s the story of a successful young executive with attachment issues who finds love with the doctor who diagnoses her cancer. I found this 2011 film on Prime.

Thank you Jonetta.
Marg @ The Intrepid Reader
Good luck with the test results, and hope you are happy with the outcome of the vote for the new Prime Minister,
Have a great week.

Thank you Marg.
Erin @ Cracker Crumb Life
Good luck with your test results! And I hope your election goes better than ours. As someone who lives just across the bridge from Canada, has Canadian relatives and friends, Canadian people working in our hospitals, I am embarrassed about the U.S. and its treatment of Canada. I can’t even begin to wrap my head around it.
thathappyreader
Thank you for saying that Erin. It has been extremely hurtful and disappointing.
Deb Nance at Readerbuzz
It’s wonderful that Canada is united against the tariffs. Most Americans are against them, too. I apologize for the lack of integrity in those who are currently leading us.
Good luck with your test results! I hope all goes well.

Thank you Deb.
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
I hope your screening results come out with good news. I have got to get my taxes done. I usually use my mom’s Turbo Tax, but she’s been getting later and later on buying it and I hate waiting till the last minute even if I am going to have to pay. I like to prepare myself early. Hope you have a good week!
thathappyreader
I use Turbotax as well but it seems to be getting more complicated in Canada each year!
Cindy Davis
I hope you and your sister both get good news. Everything is weird right now and I am ready for things to settle again. I hope you have a great week!
thathappyreader
Thank you Cindy.
Tina
That’s good you and your sister are getting tested early so you can anticipate traetment if necessary. Fingers crossed all is well.
I certainly hope Canadians pull together and stand strong against the US tarrifs. It’s embarrassing and I hope world leaders know not all Americans support the current administration.
thathappyreader
Thanks Tina.
Anne - Books of My Heart
I am sorry the felon and his team of grifters are causing trouble for all of us. I liked your old PM. I hope your results are favorable and the weather isn’t too bad. We are warming up this week!

Thank you Winnie. You too!
Cheriee
Wishing you good news with your test results.
It sure has been crazy here in Canada eh? The best thing to come out of the threats from the states is how united most of the country have become. I suppose we will be in the middle of an election in the next week or so. I’ll be out campaigning for whoever I think is most likely to defeat the conservative candidate.
thathappyreader
Thank you Cheriee. I had definitely been crazy and I love how united we have become as well. 😊
