My Week:
It’s been raining much of the week and we have more expected this weekend. Luckily Friday we had a break in the weather and I could get out for a more pleasant walk. I’m ready for warmer temperatures and drier weather.
Aside from running errands and accompanying my Dad for his treatment, it’s been a quiet week. The freezer part of my refrigerator is on its way out and has outlived its life expectancy. We found a replacement on sale and will have it delivered April 1. We’re glad it happened now before any tariffs were applied to the cost. There are presently over two hundred pages worth of items affected by the tariffs thus far. On a bright note, our new federal government and our provincial government are eliminating the carbon tax for consumers. This should reflect in cheaper gas prices which is very much appreciated.
Books I’ve Added to My Shelves This Week:
From Publishers, Netgalley, Edelweiss+ & Libro.fm: None. I’ve been offered several books but they just aren’t a good fit for me right now.
From The Library:

What I’m Watching:
We’ve been binging a Canadian comedy TV show reminiscent of The Goldbergs called Son of a Critch. It’s set in St. John’s Newfoundland in the 1980’s and follows the real life Canadian comedian Mark Critch growing up in an extended family. I’m not sure if this show is available yet elsewhere in the world – let me know if it is!

The Weekend Post #148
That’s a wrap on The Weekend Post #147. How was your week?
I wish you a wonderful week ahead!

Tina
I’ve read Chamberlain and Hewwit before and enjoyed their books. Glad you are getting a tax break on the gas. Over 200 items on the tariff list? That’s horrible. I hope one day we can return to reasonable governing in the US. Canadians and Americans had a good relationship before this last election.
thathappyreader
I agree Tina. It’s time to get this trade war resolved.
Vicki
I really don’t know about this country anymore. I think it’s going to get worse before better!
I watched every season of Corner Gas a while back and would like to watch it again. I thought it was hilarious!
thathappyreader
I need to watch that show Vicki!
Deb Nance at Readerbuzz
I’m so sorry that the edicts of the tyrants that are running the US are causing problems for you in your country. Greed, greed, greed. I’m just waiting for everything to explode.
Kate and Frida…what’s not to like about friendship, food, and books?
thathappyreader
And Paris Deb! I agree about things eventually exploding.
Becki
I have not heard of that show, but I don’t really watch any shows. Sounds like you read some good, popular authors lately! Thanks for sharing 🙂
thathappyreader
Thanks for reading Becki.
Aj @ Read All The Things!
I’m glad you were able to get a tariff-free freezer. I’m nervous about how expensive things are going to get.
thathappyreader
Thanks. I am too AJ.

Son of a Critch was on here in the US a year or two ago. I remember seeing the end of it before something else I watched came on I think. Great job on getting the freezer before it all gets expensive. And yay for cheaper gas prices! I wanted a new fridge when I moved in 6 years ago to this house because I don’t have an icemaker in this one, but then just kept what I had. Hoping it lasts, although I have to make ice with my countertop machine or buy it. Hope you have a good week!
thathappyreader
There are 4 seasons of Son of a Critch and because it’s Canadian it airs here first so watch for some new episodes Lisa!
Anne@HeadFullofBooks
We had the same thing happen with our freezer section of our fridge. We ran right out and found a replacement. We’d already had it repaired and that held for three weeks. No time to waste. It is the first time in our married life that we replaced a fridge before it was dead. It much better to do it this way.
thathappyreader
I agree Anne.
JoAnn @ Gulfside Musing
I’m looking forward to Kate & Frida, too! I loved Love & Saffron and am hoping my library gets a copy of her latest soon.
thathappyreader
I hope we both enjoy it JoAnn!
Cindy's Book Corner
I used to read Danielle Steel, but haven’t read her books in years. I hope you have a great week!

You too Cindy!

You too!

Ugh – I hate this whole tariff thing and the horrible doings of the current US administration. We are getting rain, winds and thunder today but it’s been pretty nice this past week, and will be this week again. I’m glad you were able to find a new fridge. A quiet week is a good week.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post

I agree Anne.
Carla@CarlaLovesToRead
I’m glad you got your freezer before the tariffs kicked in. I have friends that love Son of a Critch, but I haven’t watched any yet. Maybe when I get home that is what I’ll start. I hope you have a nice week Jodie.

You too Carla!
Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
I saw the show mentioned on one of the streaming channels in the US. Yes many of us are unhappy about the direction our country is taking. I am sorry.

The weather has greatly improved where I live and my husband and I really look forward to getting out and about doing some nature walks once he recovers a bit more from the foot surgery he had! It sounds like you have a decent week, I will have to check that TV series out!
hena
Yay on securing a new freezer.
