My Week:
It’s been a good week! We’re thrilled to have finally received our new refrigerator, which means we can stock up on groceries again instead of making near-daily trips to the store.
Last weekend, we enjoyed a lovely dinner at my sister and brother-in-law’s place before heading out for a bit of casino fun. This week also included a haircut and a pedicure for me—always a nice little refresh.
The weather has been a mix of rain showers and sunshine, and nature is starting to show off. Some of our trees are leafing out, the grass is growing quickly, and the tulips are just beginning to bloom. All the signs are here: spring has arrived. It feels great to have another winter behind us. I hope it’s beautiful where you are, too.
We decided to cancel our usual April trip to Las Vegas this year, but we’ve booked a couple of provincial getaways for May and July that we’re really looking forward to. I always feel better when I have vacation plans on the horizon—anyone else feel the same way?
Books I’ve Added to My Shelves This Week:
From Publishers, Netgalley, Edelweiss+ & Libro.fm:
In this gripping tale of ambition and family secrets, Rachael Carmichael, a once-famous movie star turned recluse after her divorce from director Greg Foster, reluctantly allows her aspiring actress niece, Harley Roth, into her life. Desperate to achieve the fame her aunt once had, Harley seizes the chance to play Rachael in a potential biopic and uncover the truth about her aunt’s glamorous yet mysterious past. But as Rachael reveals long-hidden secrets, Harley begins to question her aunt’s honesty in a cutthroat industry where ambition trumps loyalty and fame always comes at a price. Thank you to Brilliance Audio and Netgalley for the ARC of this audiobook.
From The Library:Â None.
From Audible:
Emma Page grew up in a family that worships highbrow literature, with her parents running a vanity press and her sister wielding influence as a powerful book reviewer. Secretly working on her own romance novel—considered beneath her family’s standards—Emma finds inspiration from her late grandmother’s collection of summer romances at the family cottage. When she uncovers a secret in her grandmother’s belongings that could ruin her parents’ publishing business and reputation, Emma must decide whether to protect her family’s legacy or let their downfall unfold.

Cassie and Zoe Grossberg rose to fame as the Griffin Sisters in the early 2000s, with Zoe chasing stardom and Cassie, a musical prodigy, preferring to stay in the background. After a year of success, the band mysteriously broke up, leaving the sisters estranged for two decades—Zoe now a housewife and Cassie off the grid. When Zoe’s daughter Cherry, eager to become a star herself, starts digging into the past, long-buried secrets about the band’s breakup resurface. As the truth unfolds, all three women must confront the choices that shaped their lives and decide whether they can forgive each other—and make music again.
What I’m Watching:
This week we watched Miracles From Heaven on Netflix and enjoyed it. It is based on the book of the same name by Christy Beam which is her account of the true story of her daughter Anna’s near-death experience and recovery from an incurable disease. It stars Jennifer Garner, Martin Henderson and Kylie Rogers.

I wish you a wonderful week ahead!

Jennnifer Garner always appears in the media as a wholesome individual, and the same for this Netflix movie too. Glad it was enjoyable.

I’m glad it looks like spring is coming for you. We actually had snow on two different days although, today it has warmed up. I also got the audiobook for The Page Turner and hope to listen to it this week. I am heading to Nova Scotia at the end of May for ten days to visit my daughter and new granddog. I hope you have a lovely week, Jodie.
