From The Publisher:
A multi-faith holiday rom com about the delightful havoc that occurs when Christmas, Eid, and Hanukkah all fall at the same time, and two strangers-turned-friends are snowbound in the small, charming town of Snow Falls along with the cast and crew of a holiday romance movie, nosy family members, and their lifelong crushes.
Three times the holiday magic. Three times the chaos.
As strangers and seatmates Maryam Aziz and Anna Gibson fly to Toronto over the holidays–Maryam to her sister’s impromptu wedding, and Anna to meet her boyfriend’s wealthy family for the first time–neither expect that severe turbulence will scare them into confessing their deepest hopes and fears to one another. At least they’ll never see each other again. And the love of Maryam’s life, Saif, wasn’t sitting two rows behind them hearing it all. Oops.
When Anna, Maryam, Saif, and Maryam’s sister’s bridal party are snowbound at the quirky Snow Falls Inn–on the outskirts of a picture-perfect town where a holiday romance starring Anna’s actor-crush is being filmed–chaos ensues. But as Maryam and Anna start to feel the magic of Snow Falls–and find love beyond their deepest hopes–they just might realize there’s no place they’d rather be for the holidays.
My Thoughts:
The story revolves around two strangers-turned-friends, Maryam Aziz and Anna Gibson, who find themselves seatmates on a flight to Toronto during the holiday season. Severe turbulence forces them to share their deepest hopes and fears, leading to an unexpected connection. Little do they know that Maryam’s lifelong crush, Saif, was sitting just a few rows behind, overhearing their confessions.
The narrative takes a whimsical turn as these characters, along with Maryam’s sister’s bridal party, get snowbound in the Snow Falls Inn, located in the midst of a picturesque town where a holiday romance movie is being filmed. The ensuing chaos, mixed with the magic of Snow Falls, leads to a heartwarming exploration of love, unity, and self-discovery.
I was particularly captivated by the small-town holiday vibe of Snow Falls. The festive atmosphere and holiday spirit were palpable, making the setting a character in its own right. It added a layer of enchantment to the story and brought a warm, comforting feeling to the narrative. The various romances in the story were delightful to follow. Each one had its own unique charm and obstacles, making them relatable and engaging for readers.
The authors’ portrayal of different cultural celebrations was both enlightening and engaging. It allowed me to learn more about other cultures and appreciate the diversity of traditions and customs, which added depth and authenticity to the story.
“Three Holidays and a Wedding” had several funny moments that added humor and lightheartedness to the plot. These moments made the reading experience even more enjoyable.
I thoroughly enjoyed the personal growth of several characters who had to overcome obstacles along the way. It made their journeys feel authentic and relatable, reminding us all of the importance of self-discovery and personal development.
The novel beautifully emphasized the importance of family throughout, showcasing the complexities and dynamics of familial relationships. It highlighted the significance of these bonds during the holiday season, which resonated with me deeply.
The central theme of the book, the importance of being authentic to yourself and living your best life, was masterfully woven throughout the narrative. It serves as a heartwarming reminder to readers that embracing one’s true self is the key to happiness and fulfillment.
Ulka Simone Mohanty does a great job of creating unique and authentic voices to her narration of the audiobook. Her voice is enthusiastic and a pleasure to listen to. I would not hesitate in recommending the audiobook format.
In summary, “Three Holidays and a Wedding” is a feel-good novel that seamlessly melds different cultural celebrations, explores the power of love, and provides a warm, comforting read for the holiday season. Uzma Jalaluddin and Marissa Stapley have crafted a story that celebrates diversity and the magic of the holidays while leaving readers with a heart full of joy and hope. This book is a must-read for anyone seeking a festive and heartwarming tale that transcends cultural boundaries and reminds us of the universal spirit of love and togetherness.
