For anyone looking to feed their fascination of the Olympics, Total Olympics by Jeremy Fuchs is for you. This book was originally scheduled to publish in May 2020, but was delayed likely because the Olympics in 2020 were also postponed. The book publishes today by Workman Publishing Company.
What This Book is About
Total Olympics is full of historical facts of the Games (including the ancient games), and includes chapters on Forgotten History, Legends, Wild and Strange, Firsts, Discontinued Sports, Forgotten Heroes, and an extensive list of Olympic results and stats.
Book Review
I am a huge Olympic fan and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The reader learns about various Olympic achievements throughout the book by many different athletes. The impact of war, politics and religion on the Games is also noted. There are photos of the athletes alongside their stories, demonstrating the changing uniforms along the way. The only criticism of the book is that there appears to be an extraordinary amount of focus on the US athletes. As a non-US reader, I would have liked to see more attention given to non-US athletic accomplishments.
What I Liked About Total Olympics:
- The extensive list of historical facts about the games
- The photos of the athletes
- The impact of world events, politics and religion on the games
I Recommend This Book To:
Those readers who are fans of the Olympic games or simply want to learn more about the games.

This book would sure be a must read for Olympic lovers. I first thought it would just be a typical history case, but the dynamics you told it covers are a lot. Liked the review. And yea I agree if it had covered such different angles then non us should also have been given their due focus. Xx
