Hi everyone! It’s time for Who Wears It Better December 2021 edition! In this feature, I look at different book covers used for the same book. In some cases, the cover is chosen by geography (e.g. North America or UK). Other times, it’s based on the edition of the book (hardcover, paperback, kindle etc). Where it becomes confusing is when the book is given a completely different title! Just for fun, and because I love talking books, let’s see what different books covers I’ve noticed recently. You can click on the book covers to read my review.
Both of these covers are beautiful but I give the edge to the original cover since it represents the book better as a thriller.
Add Goodnight Beautiful to your Goodreads shelf
I love both of these covers! The colours on both are so vibrant. I do give the edge to the US cover simply because it has the surfers on it, and this is an integral part of the book.
Add Malibu Rising to your Goodreads shelf
Although I prefer the colours of the US cover, I prefer the UK cover as I believe it more clearly represents the book.
Add The Vanishing Half to your Goodreads shelf
Notice the different title for this one. I love the way the red pops in the UK cover but give a slight edge to the US cover because it reflects the book and also has that cute cat on the cover!
Add A Season for Second Chances to your Goodreads shelf
This one was an easy choice for me – I prefer the UK Cover. I like the gold lettering with the fireworks which give the cover a celebratory feel. The US cover just looks a little boring to me.
Add This Time Next Year to your Goodreads shelf
So that’s Who Wears it Better- December 2021 edition! I’d love to know which covers you prefer, so please let me know in the comments. I really appreciate you reading and supporting this blog and hope that you have a wonderful day.☺️

It amazes me how different covers for the same book for different countries can be! This was a fun post, thank you.

Thanks for reading Sadie!

Love both the Malibu Rising covers, such pretty colours! And a Season of Second Chances, definitely left! As for the last book (just like the first book), unsure, neither cover is really saying YAS/buy me. XD The Vanishing Half, didn’t know there were two covers, think I am going for right there~

Thanks for sharing your choices Mehsi!

I love the original cover for good night beautiful, it seems to represent the book so much more than the U.K. Version. Have you ever compared the mill and boom modern covers U.K. v US they are totally different.

Thanks Susan. I tend to compare books I’ve read and note that there is a different cover when I post my review on Goodreads.

This was a very interesting post! I enjoyed deciding my favorite.
I hadn’t visited your site before, glad I found it.

Thank you for visiting! I’m glad that you’ve found it too!

The Malibu Rising cover on the left makes me want to read the book way more. The one on the right looks cheesier. I know you’re not supposed to judge books like that, but I’d pick up the left one but not the right! I don’t know if it’s the font or what.
And I would pick the US (right side) of A Season for Second Chances. Again, the one on the right is just less appealing.
I’m also super curious about why they changed the title… I know they have “winter” in the US, too! Very strange.

Thanks Colleen! I think the change in title is really interesting too!

This was a lot of fun to think about! I think I have a slight preference towards the UK covers except for the Jenny Bayliss one – I agree with you, the cat is a big factor in that decision! And as for Goodnight Beautiful, I’m more drawn towards the paperback cover. I love the colours. 🙂
Eri
I always find interesting how different covers are created for the same book. I do agree with you and that the UK cover for the Vanishing Half is a better image to reflect the story of the book. Loved your choices!

Thanks for reading Eri!

I’m from the us and I never knew that books had different covers in the uk I assumed they were the same this whole time. I personally like both designs from both countries.

Not all books have different covers, but I’m finding quite a wide variety of them! Thanks for reading.
Vourneen
I love these posts! I always scroll really slowly and make my decision before I read your favourite – but this time they were the same!

I love this series! I think it’s so fun. I agree with most of your choices, but I like the UK version of Malibu Rising. The colors are more vibrant and really draw your eye in.

Love this post, Jodie. 💚 I’ve swapped to audiobooks only this year and I’ve noticed this discrepancy in cover designs too. I look forward to seeing which covers you spot next time!

I read about 60 audiobooks per year Flora and have found this to be my favourite format for books. Thanks for reading.
Faye
I love hearing your reasoning behind choosing one over the other. It’s crazy how different the covers can be!

I like the original cover of Goodnight Beautiful. The Malibu Rising US cover is nice too. I didn’t like both the covers of The Vanishing Half, but I agree that the UK cover represents the book more. I also prefer the UK cover of The Winter of Second Chances and This Time Next Year.
