It’s time for Who Wears it Better? October 2022 edition! In this feature, I look at different book covers used for the same book. In some cases, the cover is chosen by geography (e.g. North America or UK). Other times, it’s based on the edition of the book (hardcover, paperback, kindle etc). Where it becomes confusing is when the book is given a completely different title! Just for fun, and because I love talking books, let’s see what different books covers I’ve noticed recently. You can click on the book covers to read my review of each book when available. Let’s go!
*Clicking on the cover will take you to my review if available or to Goodreads.
The Lies I Tell by Julie Clark
I like both of these covers. The hardcover represents the fact this book is a psychological thriller, but I love the red colour of the kindle cover. My vote for this book is the kindle cover.
Mad Honey by Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Finney Boylan
Yellow is a colour I’m not really attracted to. I do like each of these covers though. The purple flowers in the US cover are beautiful but I have to give this one to the UK cover simply because of the bees and the word honey in the title.
Mr. Perfect on Paper by Jean Meltzer
These covers are both very different. I love the colours used in both of the editions but prefer the US cover for the use of the notepad and the female character which looks more Jewish to me.
The High Notes by Danielle Steel
I love both of these covers! They both highlight that the protagonist is a performer and use beautiful colours. I do prefer the hardcover edition because the character is wearing a cowgirl hat which is a nod to her Texas roots.
Slightly South of Simple by Kristy Woodson Harvey
While I enjoy the beach-feel to each of these covers, I have to choose the Gallery Books cover because it has the three sisters featured in the book on it.

Her Digital Coffee
I love the colors in the hardcover for The Lies I Tell, the US cover for Mad Honey (although the bees are so cute in the UK cover), the US cover for Perfect on Paper, Kindle for High Notes, and Gallery Books for Slightly South. Great post Jodie!

It’s funny how the man on the covers of Mr. perfect on paper looks so different. How is the character supposed to look>

I honestly can’t remember the description for the Mr Perfect. Good question though!
Wendy Williams
These all have such different covers. I guess Mad Honey is the closest as they are both yellow. And the bees are a large part of the story, so I agree that the UK cover is slightly better. For the High Notes, they are both such pretty covers. Wonderful post, Jodie!

Wow, this is actually a cool idea, and love the book suggestions as well. I didn’t know that is a thing to give the book different titles.

Thanks Fransic! Yes that’s a thing.

I love reading these posts! I agreed with your last three choices but I preferred the opposite of you in the first two – so a pretty even split this time! Thank you so much for sharing.

The Lies I Tell, that first cover seems apt, or is it sinister. Suited for its genre. I’m undecided on Slightly South of Sinister. Like them both.

I love the cover with the bees! I definitely think that one is better than the other. It is so crazy how different you can feel about a book with a different cover. Thank you for sharing.
