It’s time for Who Wears it Better in August 2024? In this feature, I look at different book covers used for the same book. In some cases, the cover is chosen by geography (e.g. North America or UK). Other times, it’s based on the edition of the book (hardcover, paperback, kindle etc). Where it becomes confusing is when the book is given a completely different title! Just for fun, and because I love talking books, let’s see what different books covers I’ve noticed recently. You can click on the book covers to read my review of each book when available.
➡️ I’ve added voting buttons to each of the five challenges, so please cast your votes for all of them. I’ll share the final results in next month’s post. But first, let’s review the results of last month’s battles!
The Fixer Upper by Mary Kay Andrews:
This book has multiple different covers but I chose just two. The January 1 cover feels vintage with the style of dress and old luggage. The June 23 cover depicts a dilapidated home with a woman clearly in home renovation mode. While I like both of these covers it is the June 23 cover that makes me smile and therefore it is my choice.
The Edge of Summer by Viola Shipman:
This battle features two different covers both with a summer feel to them. While I’m likely more attracted to the Graydon House cover on first glance, I appreciate the Center Point cover for its reference to the importance of buttons in the story. If you have read this story you will know what I mean. It is for this reason that I choose the Center Point cover here.
Savannah Blues by Mary Kay Andrews:
There a multiple different covers for this book which originally published in 2002. I love the vintage vibe that each cover brings – even the font used in both of these covers feels like it’s from a different time. While I like both of these covers my choice is the Avon cover because I love sunflowers.
The Love of My After Life by Kirsty Greenwood:
This battle is for covers representing both the UK and the US and I like both of them. The UK cover has the title and author’s name on various different cloud. The US cover is more whimsical and features a man and a woman on separate bubbles in the sky. I’m attracted to the colours used in both covers. I’m a sucker for whimsy and therefore the US cover is my choice.
The Wedding People by Alison Espach:
This battle features two different covers by different publishers. The Henry Holt & Co cover depicts two arms coming out of the ocean carrying and holding a bottle of champagne. The Phoenix cover has various symbols of luck, love and marriage. I’m not particularly attracted to either of these covers but if I have to choose one I’d choose the Henry Holt & Co cover because it intrigues me to see what this story is all about.
So there you have it – Who Wears it Better in August 2024? I’d love to know which covers you prefer, so please vote to let me know! Looking for more covers to compare? I actually like the UK cover to the Kirsty Greenwood book better! I think it’s something about the colors.

Thanks Jonetta!

I agreed with all your choices except Savannah Blues, Jodie. Although I also love sunflowers, in fact I just bought a metal one to put on my shed, I thought it overpowered the cover. Another great Who Wears it Better post.
