It’s time for Who Wears it Better in December 2023? In this feature, I look at different book covers used for the same book. In some cases, the cover is chosen by geography (e.g. North America or UK). Other times, it’s based on the edition of the book (hardcover, paperback, kindle etc). Where it becomes confusing is when the book is given a completely different title! Just for fun, and because I love talking books, let’s see what different books covers I’ve noticed recently. You can click on the book covers to read my review of each book when available. Let’s go!
The Bright Spot by Jill Shalvis:
I love both of these covers! The Headline Eternal cover illustrates the book’s Apple Ridge Farm whereas the Avon cover shows the town of Sunrise Cove. They both are cheerful and colourful and it’s difficult for me to choose but if I had to I’m slightly more drawn to the Headline Eternal cover.
Best Of Luck by Kate Clayborn:
Here are three very different covers for the same book. I’m not particularly attracted to any of these books but I like the camera used in the Canelo Romance cover, and the colours used in the Lyrical Press cover. I’ve included the Lyrical Shine cover because I know some of you enjoy a real photo on the cover. My choice for this book is the Lyrical Press cover.
The Friendship List by Susan Mallery:
I like both of these covers! Each depicts two women lounging near water and I love those hats! It’s because of the vibrancy of the colours used in the Mass Market cover that it is my choice of covers for The Friendship List.
Only Love Can Hurt Like This by Paige Toon:
I love both of these covers! Each depicts a broken flower and I love the colours used and the tagline on each of these covers. This one came down to the font chosen – the Penguin UK cover wins this battle.
Cottage By The Sea by Debbie Macomber:
The two covers are an example of different covers according to geography. The UK cover is more vibrant in colour and shows a couple walking together. The US cover is more muted and I’m not particularly fond of the colours chosen. This was an easy choice for me – the UK cover wins this battle.
So that’s Who Wears it Better in December 2023? I’d love to know which covers you prefer, so please let me know in the comments. I appreciate you reading and supporting this blog and hope that you have a wonderful day!

Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
I like the first cover best except for the Susan Mallery and Paige Toon books, there I like the second one better. Always a fun post!

Her Digital Coffee
Both covers for Bright Spot are great, but I love the details with Avon! I like Canelo’s for Best of Luck, Hardcover for Friendship List, G.P. for Only Love, and US for Cottage by the Sea. I love seeing different covers, especially when readers are drawn to a specific one because it fits the story better! Thank you for sharing this fun post!

Jonetta | Blue Mood Café
I somehow missed this great post! You and I are normally on the same page about these but this time, I picked the second cover for all three 🤷🏽♀️ For all three, it’s color, layout and font.
Maybe next time?
