It’s time for Who Wears it Better in February 2023 ! In this feature, I look at different book covers used for the same book. In some cases, the cover is chosen by geography (e.g. North America or UK). Other times, it’s based on the edition of the book (hardcover, paperback, kindle etc). Where it becomes confusing is when the book is given a completely different title! Just for fun, and because I love talking books, let’s see what different books covers I’ve noticed recently. You can click on the book covers to read my review of each book when available. Let’s go!
Owner Of A Lonely Heart by Eva Carter
These are all beautiful covers two of which are quite similar. I love the colours used and the whimsy in each of these book covers. If I had to choose one my pick is the 2022 Kindle Edition cover.
The Backup Plan by Jill Shalvis
I love both of these covers! The UK cover is more whimsical where the US cover appears to have more of a photograph-like quality. This is a hard one for me but the dog in the US cover makes it the winner.
One Month of You by Suzanne Ewart
This is an interesting one. The 2021 version represents a significantly shorter version of the book than the 2023 version of the book. I read the 2023 version of the book and am curious to see how the books differ. The covers are very different from one another and are both quite lovely. This is another tough one for me but I like the 2021 version slightly better.
The Banned Bookshop of Maggie Banks by Shauna Robinson
These covers are both very nice and each depicts a woman reading a book. The colours used are very different with the normal print cover using a wider variety. I love red book covers and for this reason I choose the large print version of this book.
Someone Else’s Shoes by Jojo Moyes
Each of these covers displays a skyline but otherwise the covers are very different from one another. I like the font used in the Penguin edition but the colours used in the Pamela Dorman Edition. My choice is the Pamela Dorman edition.

I always really enjoy these posts from you! It’s interesting to see the slight differences between covers but there’s always one that stands out more!

Okay! Here goes…
Owner Of A Lonely Heart: I absolutely love those balloons on the Ferris wheel so I’m going with the Dell paperback edition.
The Backup Plan: I’m with you, Jodie. It’s the red US cover all the way for many reasons. There’s something nostalgic about that illustration.
One Month of You: I’m fairly neutral on this one but give the slight edge to the silhouette in the 2023 version.
The Banned Bookshop of Maggie Banks: Again, I’m with you and love the large print version. There’s a bit of whimsy in Maggie’s illustration.
Someone Else’s Shoes: Even though the Penguin edition uses the trademark typeface always seen on Moyes books,I much prefer the Dorman edition.
This was fun!

It’s always fun to see how covers differ based on country or type of publication. I love the London skyline in the Penguin Edition of the Jojo Meyers book.

I was wondering if both the covers were showing the London Skyline. I see Big Ben in the Pamela Dorman cover. Thanks for reading!

I love the Kindle and Dell cover for Owner of a Lonely Heart, UK for The Backup Plan, love both for One Month, Large Print for Banned Bookshop, and Penguin for Someone Else’s Shoes. Thank you for sharing Jodie, these are so much fun! I hope you enjoy the long weekend!

Ooh, fun post! Let’s see, my favorites are the middle one for the first book, the illustrated first one for The Backup Plan, the blue cover for One Month of You, the yellow banned bookshop because I like the more detail it has, and the red JoJo Moyes cover. Fun!

Thanks for letting me know your thoughts Lisa!

I think this is the first time I didn’t agree with you on all of them Jodie. For Owner Of A Lonely Heart, I like the Dell Paperback cover. I really like the use of the ferris wheel and it drew my eye to this book. For One Month of You, I like the 2023 cover as I really like the use of the hour glass and time running out. For The Banned Bookshop of Maggie Banks, I like them both, but the normal print addition reminds me more of a library or bookstore, so I like it more. I picked the same one as you for the JoJo Moyes book. This is a fun post.
