It’s time for Who Wears it Better in January 2023 ! In this feature, I look at different book covers used for the same book. In some cases, the cover is chosen by geography (e.g. North America or UK). Other times, it’s based on the edition of the book (hardcover, paperback, kindle etc). Where it becomes confusing is when the book is given a completely different title! Just for fun, and because I love talking books, let’s see what different books covers I’ve noticed recently. You can click on the book covers to read my review of each book when available. Let’s go!
All Is Bright by RaeAnne Thayne:
I love both of these covers! Both show a beautiful winter scene using colours I’m attracted to. I’m chosing the UK cover because it shows the couple and the man’s wheelchair and feels more romantic.
Falling Stars by Fern Michaels:
There are some similarities between these two covers – each of them use a Christmas ornament. While I like both of those covers, I appreciate that the Hardcover is a bit more colourful and for this reason I am chosing this one.
Promise Me by Jill Mansell:
These two covers are very different from each other. I like both of these covers for their use of colours and whimsy but I am a bit more attracted to the UK and US cover.
A Guide to Being Just Friends by Sophie Sullivan:
These covers are very similar and reminds me of a find the differences between the photos puzzle! The fonts chosen are different. The UK cover has a statement about the book while the US version shows a review. The US version notes it’s a novel. Am I missing anything? Another mystery as to why we even need an alternative cover! I like the UK slightly better because I prefer a statement on the cover to a review.
Without A Trace by Danielle Steel:
Both of these covers are beautiful! I love the colours used and the spray of the water along a rocky shore. I do prefer the Original cover because of the sunset colours. I also think that it feels more like I’m standing on the shore rather than I’m looking down from overhead.
Previous Editions of Who Wears it Better:
So that’s Who Wears it Better in January 2023 ! I’d love to know which covers you prefer, so please let me know in the comments. I appreciate you reading and supporting this blog and hope that you have a wonderful day.

Wow, the two covers for A Guide to Being Just Friends are so similar! Fascinating given that usually they are pretty different.

I agree! It was surprising to me too.

While typically I would choose almost entirely UK covers, this round surprised me with some great US covers. I like the lettering choices and just designs, in general, more for the US covers this time around. So fun!

Her Digital Coffee
I like the UK cover for All is Bright, hardcover for Falling Stars, UK for Promise Me (although I love the colors of the Netherlands), US for Just Friends, and alternate for Without a Trace. Thank you for these fun posts Jodie! I hope you have a great weekend.

I agree with all your choices today, Jodie. I wonder why the Guide to Being Just Friends covers are so similar, but just slightly different. I guess the marketing people are the only ones who can answer that!

Wouldn’t it be nice to interview them? I’d love to! Thanks Wendy!

Interesting that some covers are very different yet others are almost identical. They all look good though.
