It’s time for Who Wears it Better in July 2024? In this feature, I look at different book covers used for the same book. In some cases, the cover is chosen by geography (e.g. North America or UK). Other times, it’s based on the edition of the book (hardcover, paperback, kindle etc). Where it becomes confusing is when the book is given a completely different title! Just for fun, and because I love talking books, let’s see what different books covers I’ve noticed recently. You can click on the book covers to read my review of each book when available. Let’s go!
☺️ I’m trying out something new this month with the addition of voting buttons. Please vote on each of the five battles. I’ll publish the final results in next month’s post. Let me know what you think!
15 Summer Later by RaeAnne Thayne:
Let’s start this month’s battles with two lovely covers that depict summer. I appreciate the muted tones in the Center Point cover as well as the sunset colours in the Canary Street cover. Each of the books display two young women alongside a lake. This is interesting given that the setting for the book is a creek. I adore both of these covers but if I had to choose one I’d pick the Canary Street cover because I’m more attracted to the colours used.
For the Love of Summer by Susan Mallery:
Here are two very different covers for the same book that we marketed based o geography. The MIRA cover from the U.S. is the photo of a young woman sitting on a bench watching the water. The U.K. cover from Mills & Boon is whimsical and has the young woman facing away from the water with skyline of Seattle in the background. If I’m honest, neither of these covers is particularly appealing to me but if I had to choose one I’d select the Mills & Boon cover as it has more detail.
The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley
This battle features William Morrow’s cover with lights hanging in a tree with an interesting font versus a very minimalist HarperCollins cover showing the icon of a flame and taglines. Without a doubt, the William Morrow is my choice of covers.
Honey by Isabel Banta
This is another geographical battle with Celadon representing the U.S. and Zaffre the U.K. The Celadon cover features two CD’s and a pink background and Zaffree shows actual honey with a tagline. Each cover also has a quote from an author. I think the Zaffre cover is more unique and this is why it is my choice of covers.
Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas
These covers were both used by Bloomsbury Publishing in the same year and so I’ve named them Cover A and Cover B. Cover A shows a prominent female warrior where Cover B shows the kingdom and warrior as a feature on the outside edges of the cover. I love the colours used in Cover B but find that Cover A is more striking and therefore my choice in this battle.
So that’s Who Wears it Better in July 2024? I’d love to know which covers you prefer, so please let me know in the comments. Looking for more covers to compare? Check out the following recent monthly Who Wears it Better posts! I appreciate you reading and supporting this blog and hope that you have a wonderful day!

The covers for Honey are so different! That’s the only one I disagree with you on, too, but I think I’ve just seen too many like the Zaffre cover come through my bookshop. I definitely like those colors more, but I’m more attracted to the other one because it feels different to me.

Fair enough ER!

The polls were so much fun. I wasn’t sure if I’d be in the minority or not. I’m not. Lol.

Thanks for reading and voting Jenni!

The newer Throne of Glass covers have been a point of annoyance for me for a while now. Crown of Midnight is actually the one book I’m missing in my collection, and I’ve been searching for a copy of the book with Cover A for several years so that I have a uniform set, but it has been next to impossible to find. I love the addition of the polls to this post! Thanks for sharing Jodie!

Good luck on your quest Raji! I hope you can find it.

Carla @ CarlaLovesToRead
Fun that we get to vote, great addition to the post, Jodie. I find that if I have read the book, I choose the cover that I think better shows the story, if I haven’t read it, it is which one caught my eye. I chose Center Point, Mira, William Morrow, Zaffre and Cover B.

Thanks for reading and voting Carla! That’s how I tend to choose as well.
