It’s time for Who Wears it Better in June 2023? In this feature, I look at different book covers used for the same book. In some cases, the cover is chosen by geography (e.g. North America or UK). Other times, it’s based on the edition of the book (hardcover, paperback, kindle etc). Where it becomes confusing is when the book is given a completely different title! Just for fun, and because I love talking books, let’s see what different books covers I’ve noticed recently. You can click on the book covers to read my review of each book when available. Let’s go!
Between Us by Mhairi McFarlane:
I like both of these covers! The Avon cover references the TV show in the book while the HarperCollins version has a couple relaxing and chatting over a glass of wine. Because of the colour of the cover, I choose the HarperCollins cover.
The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella:
There are many covers and over 150 editions of this book but I’ve chosen three here. I love the whimsy in all of these covers but particularly love the Transworld Digital cover with all the chaos shown on the cover.
Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides:
I read this Pulitzer prize winning book more than twenty years ago but it has stuck with me. While I don’t think these are the prettiest of covers they are all very unique and interesting. The Farrar, Straus and Giroux cover most closely reflects my memories of this book and is therefore my choice.
The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger:
I love both of these covers. They both reference the book’s title and I appreciate the whimsy. The Doubleday cover is a little less aggressive to me and is therefore my choice.
The Love Season by Elin Hilderbrand:
Here is another example of three very different covers and I like them all. The 2007 and 2020 covers have a couple on the cover while the original 2006 cover has a woman walking alone. The 2006 cover is my favourite as it emits a peaceful quality to me.
So that’s Who Wears it Better in June 2023? I’d love to know which covers you prefer, so please let me know in the comments. I appreciate you reading and supporting this blog and hope that you have a wonderful day.

Between Us – I picked your choice, too, not only for the cover but the typeface. It’s one of my favorites.
The Undomestic Goddess – I love all three but the middle one (Transworld Publishers) is my choice for layout, typeface and color.
Middlesex – I’ve never read the book so I found all of them a bit confounding but went with your choice.
The Devil Wears Prada – I’m with you again! I have the one with the shoe but always found it a bit off putting.
The Love Season – I’m with your choice for the exact same reason.

These are so fun! I love HarperCollin’s cover for Between Us, Dial Press for Undomestic Goddess, Picador for Middlesex, Doubleday for Devil Wears Prada, and 2006 Cover for The Love Season. Thank you for sharing Jodie! It’s always nice seeing different covers for a book. I hope you have a great weekend!

So I like both of the covers for Between Us, but maybe the second one just a smidge better. For the Sophie Kinsella book I probably like the first one best. Fun post!
