It’s time for Who Wears it Better in June 2024? In this feature, I look at different book covers used for the same book. In some cases, the cover is chosen by geography (e.g. North America or UK). Other times, it’s based on the edition of the book (hardcover, paperback, kindle etc). Where it becomes confusing is when the book is given a completely different title! Just for fun, and because I love talking books, let’s see what different books covers I’ve noticed recently. You can click on the book covers to read my review of each book when available. Let’s go!
28 Summers by Elin Hilderbrand:
Don’t these covers remind you of summer at the beach? I love both of these covers and frankly I’m having a hard time deciding which one I like best. My choice is based on my love of watching sailboats on the ocean and therefore the Little, Brown and Company cover is my favourite.
The Summer Getaway by Susan Mallery:
This is an example of two very different covers based on geography. The US cover is quite simple with its photo of a woman standing in turquoise water. The UK version is more whimsical, detailed and includes a tagline. My choice is the UK cover.
The Lie Maker by Linwood Barclay:
This title battle shows two fairly similar covers. The HQ cover has brighter colours and looks a bit more peaceful than the William Morrow cover whose stormy seas looks more suspenseful. Because this book is a thriller, my choice of covers is the William Morrow cover.
The Summer Seekers by Sarah Morgan:
This is another example of difference in covers based on geography. While both of these covers show a red convertible this is pretty much where the similarities end. I appreciate the whimsy in both of these covers and the sense of adventure reflective of the book. The UK cover has a bit more detail on it and for this reason it is my choice.
Swift River by Essie Chambers:
Our final battle this week is for two covers from the current Read With Jenna selection. These covers are very different from one another: the Simon & Schuster shows more like a painting while the Dialogue Books cover is more like a photo. While I’m generally drawn to covers using brighter colours, the Dialogue Books calls me more. My choice is the Dialogue Books cover.
So that’s Who Wears it Better in June 2024? I’d love to know which covers you prefer, so please let me know in the comments. Looking for more covers to compare? Check out the following recent monthly Who Wears it Better posts! I appreciate you reading and supporting this blog and hope that you have a wonderful day!

Fun post! Some are very hard to decide between. I tend to like the two beach ones best, but I agree with you on the rest. 😀

I agree with all your picks this week except for the one for Swift River! I love covers with drawn art, and I oddly prefer cool-toned covers to warm-toned ones. 😀

ER LeVar
I agree with your choice of the UK cover for The Summer Getaway… but I am rather fond of the turquoise color the US cover uses!

I share your opinions on all but The Summer Seekers & The Summer Getaway. The US versions are cleaner layouts with more vivid colors and typefaces.
Love these posts, Jodie💜

I like Hodder & Stoughton for 28 Summers, US cover for The Summer Getaway, William Morrow for The Lie Maker, US for The Summer Seekers, and both for Swift River. Thanks for sharing these fun posts, Jodie! I always look forward to them! 🙂

Great battles this week, Jodie. I agree with all your choices, except The Summer Getaway. I like the tranquil feel as opposed to the whimsical.
