It’s time for Who Wears it Better in March 2024? In this feature, I look at different book covers used for the same book. In some cases, the cover is chosen by geography (e.g. North America or UK). Other times, it’s based on the edition of the book (hardcover, paperback, kindle etc). Where it becomes confusing is when the book is given a completely different title! Just for fun, and because I love talking books, let’s see what different books covers I’ve noticed recently. You can click on the book covers to read my review of each book when available. Let’s go!
The Wives by Tarryn Fisher:
This book has two different covers with one similarity – their hidden faces. The Graydon House edition has three women who are blurred out. The HQ Kindle Edition has three women with their backs showing. I like the colours used in the HQ Kindle edition so that is my choice of covers for this book.
Funny Story by Emily Henry:
I’m attracted to both of these covers for Emily Henry’s April 2024 release! They both show a couple sharing a drink but the Viking cover shows the couple more engaged in one another. I also love the colours used in the Viking cover and it is for these reasons that it is my choice.
No Time For Goodbye by Linwood Barclay:
There are actually 117 editions for this book which was originally published in 2007! I’m displaying two of those here and each of these represent the fact this book is a thriller. The covers are different from one another right from the colours and fonts used to the taglines. I love the use of red in a cover (particularly for a thriller) and for that reason the Bantam Hardcover is my choice.
The Weather Girl by Rachel Lynn Solomon:
I love the whimsy in each of these covers! The Berkley cover shows a couple, mostly concealed under an umbrella. The Center Point Pub cover has a woman underneath an umbrella. I love that both covers depict that it is raining. Because this book is a romance, the cover that is my preference is the Berkley one.
Winter At The Beach by Sheila Roberts:
While each of these covers show a beach that is where the similarities stop. The Thorndike Press cover is quite minimal with the beach and a piece of holly in the centre. The MIRA cover on the other hand shows much more including a rowboat, a lantern and snow falling. I love the colours used in the MIRA cover whereby the colours in the Thorndike Press version are much more muted. My choice of covers for this book is the MIRA cover.
So that’s Who Wears it Better in March 2024? I’d love to know which covers you prefer, so please let me know in the comments. Looking for more covers to compare? Check out the following recent monthly Who Wears it Better posts! I appreciate you reading and supporting this blog and hope that you have a wonderful day!

1. The Wives: I love the Graydon version simply because it’s more ominous and interesting.
2. Funny Story: I love both of them but prefer the Viking edition for the same reason as you…they’re more engaged and it looks like one of them is telling a funny story.
3. No Time for Goodbye: I could go either way with these two. Neither excites me.
4. Weather Girl: The Berkley cover best illustrates the story but I love the second one artistically. It makes me want to open the book.
5. Winter at the Beach: Both of these are so, so different I’d need to know if the story was upbeat or somber. They convey completely different vibes and I like them both.

I am always drawn to a red cover. The Funny Story ones are very similar.

I usually don’t like both covers when you do these lists but I have to say I do like both of the Funny Story covers a lot!

I always love these posts! I think book covers are so interesting, especially when comparing them to each other! I agree with you on the Berkley cover for Weather Girl–something so cozy about it!

Carla @ CarlaLovesToRead
This time I agreed with all your choices, Jodie. I do enjoy seeing the different covers, but I don’t understand why we need different covers for the same book.

I don’t either Carla! Thanks for letting me know your thoughts!
Harvee
The covers of some of the books are quite different. The red in No Time for Goodbye is scary and I would not pick that book but I might read it with the blue cover. I pretty much agree with most of your other choices.
