It’s time for Who Wears it Better in September 2023? In this feature, I look at different book covers used for the same book. In some cases, the cover is chosen by geography (e.g. North America or UK). Other times, it’s based on the edition of the book (hardcover, paperback, kindle etc). Where it becomes confusing is when the book is given a completely different title! Just for fun, and because I love talking books, let’s see what different books covers I’ve noticed recently. You can click on the book covers to read my review of each book when available. Let’s go!
Business Or Pleasure by Rachel Lynn Solomon:
There are similarities as well as differences in these two covers. The font and graphics used are the same with different colours chosen. The Berkley cover also shows one of the author’s previous books. I do prefer the colours chosen in the Berkley cover and therefore it is my pick.
Summer Sisters by Judy Blume:
According to Goodreads, this book has 85 different editions (including books translated to other languages) but I’m only showing 3 here. These covers are all very different but I like each of them. The Delta edition looks like a painting which I appreciate in a cover. The Sphere cover depicts a young woman thinking back on memories. I appreciate the colours used in the Pan cover. Which one did I choose? The Delta cover. Which one did I read more than 20 years ago? I have no idea….
A December To Remember by Jenny Bayliss:
I love both of these covers! They are both whimsical and colourful and both very different from one another. The G.P. Putnam’s Sons’ cover looks as though three friends are at a Christmas market in the evening. The Pan Macmillan cover shows a couple in the snow during the day. While this was a difficult one for me, my choice is the Pan Macmillan cover for the romance it conveys. This book publishes in November so look for my review closer to publication day!
A Winter in New York by Josie Silver:
This is another tough decision for me because I love both of these covers! The Delacorte Press cover has a New York cityscape in a snow globe and includes the title of a previous bestselling book from the author. The Penguin cover has a couple standing on a pedestrian bridge with the New York skyline in the background. I grappled with this one for quite a while but choose the Penguin cover as it has a more romantic feel to it. This book publishes in October so look for my review of it soon!
Good Bad Girl by Alice Feeney:
Here is another example of two very different covers for the same book. The Flatiron Books cover is an overhead shot of open umbrellas all black except for the red one in the centre. There is a one-line review at the bottom. The Macmillan cover has blocks of red and black with ladybugs. It also has some one-line reviews and a tagline. My choice for this book is the Flatiron Books editions although neither of these covers is particularly appealing to me.
So that’s Who Wears it Better in September 2023? I’d love to know which covers you prefer, so please let me know in the comments. I appreciate you reading and supporting this blog and hope that you have a wonderful day!

1. Business or Pleasure: Definitely the Berkley edition for the exact same reasons.
2.Summer Sisters: Hands down it’s the Delta version. I think it’s lovely in its simplicity.
3. A December to Remember: Oh, Jodie, we continue to experience these covers the same way. Love them both but the Pan Macmillan edition makes m smile.
4. A Winter in New York: Again, I like both of them but am going with Penguin for their typeface choice and placement.
5. Good Bad Girl: Hands down it’s the Flatiron edition. The other one is all over the place and is an unattractive layout. I love the red pop of that umbrella, not so in the face and invites intrigue.

We’ve evidently got very similar tastes in book covers. I’ve agreed with every one of your preferred covers… and even “Flatiron but I don’t particularly like either” opinion when it comes to Good Bad Girl!

Great post! I would choose the same covers as you except for Summer Sisters – I liked the Pan 1999 edition.

I love Who Wears It Better! I like Berkley’s version of Business or Pleasure, Delta for Summer Sisters, Pan Macmillan for A December, Penguin for A Winter, Flatiron Books for Good Bad Girl, although I definitely agree that neither covers really stand out. Perhaps it’s the darker color choices that make them a bit dull. Thank you for sharing Jodie!

Let’s see, I like the Berkley cover of the first one best, not a fan really of the Judy Blume ones, but I’d pick the middle I guess. A December to remember I like the first one, Winter in the New York the first one, and the first one for Good Bad Girl. Fun post again!
